Around the State Recap (NCGameOn) 3/7-3/8/20

A handful of ranked teams and several looking to break into rankings were in action this past weekend at the Clemmons and Oxford NCGameOn sites. 12u #7 Rockies/GRIT - Culler was impressive in Clemmons with two top 15 wins to highlight their 4-0 weekend. Here we recap the weekend's games across the NCGameOn tournament sites.

 

Clemmons

The Carolina Falcons went 2-0 on Saturday to head into Sunday with top seed. They defeated the Hitmen 16-1 and a 10-9 win over Cage 2 Stage. In the semifinals on Sunday, Cage 2 Stage notched an 11-2 win over Five Star Heat - Hendren and the Carolina Falcons scored a 9-1 win over Pfafftown Raiders Elite. In the finals, the Falcons finished off a 4-0 weekend with a 13-6 win over Cage 2 Stage.

3 teams went 2-0 on Saturday in Clemmons. Our #11 team in North Carolina, Spartans - Mullins, defeated CBA Copperheads 15-2 and the DC Bombers 7-6. #13 Carolina Spinners rolled to a 17-2 win over China Grove Hutters and a 12-4 win over GBC. Five Star Carolina - Secrist also went 2-0 in pool play with a 9-0 win over #18 Carolina Hitmen and a 16-4 win over CBA Copperheads. In the Gold bracket semifinals, the Carolina Spinners topped Spartans - Mullins 15-7 and Five Star - Secrist notched a 6-3 win over GBC. In the finals, Five Star - Secrist finished of a 4-0 weekend with a 16-6 win over the Carolina Spinners.

The Carolina Bulldogs scored the #1 seed for Sunday with a 14-1 win over Five Star Heat - Holloway and a 10-4 win over Luckies Freedom. The GBC Prospects earned the #2 seed after they went 1-1 in pool play with a 13-10 win over Five Star Heat AC and a 21-1 win over Five Star - Holloway. Proehlific Power finished with the #4 seed for Sunday after they fell 12-5 against Luckies Freedom and defeated Five Star Heat AC 17-3 in pool play. In the #4/5 play-in game on Sunday, Proehlific Power scored a 15-10 win over Five Star Heat AC. In the semifinals, Luckies Freedom topped the GBC Prospects 15-8 and Proehlific Power scored a 15-2 win over the Carolina Bulldogs. In the finals, Proehlific Power finished off a 3-0 Sunday with a 3-0 win over Luckies Freedom.

Our #7 team in North Carolina, Rockies/Grit- Culler, was dominate all weekend going 4-0 on their way to the title in Clemmons. On Saturday, they rolled to an 11-1 win over the GBC Prospects and a 15-6 win over #12 Athlete's Advantage Yard Goats. On Sunday, the Rockies defeated the Yard Goats 8-2 in the semifinals before posting a 17-4 win over Kings Baseball in the finals. For the weekend, the Rockies outscored their 4 opponents a combined 51-13.

 

 

Oxford

RBI Raptors Blue earned the top seed for Sunday with an 8-6 win over Clayton RailRoaders Maroon and a 9-3 win over the East Coast Clippers. The RailRoaders topped the Orange County Crushers 15-2 in their other pool play game and earned the #2 seed for Sunday. In the semifinals, the RailRoaders rolled to an 11-1 win over the East Coast Clippers and RBI Raptors Blue edged the Orange County Crushers 12-10. In the finals, Clayton RailRoaders Maroon notched an 8-5 win over RBI Raptors Blue.

The Carolina Bandits earned the top seed for Sunday with a 7-4 win over the Riptide and an 11-5 win over the North Wake Force. The Riptide earned the #2 seed with a 3-2 win over Diamond Life Athletics, in addition to their loss against the Bandits on Saturday. In the #4/5 play in game on Sunday, the Force blanked the Carolina Flash 12-0. In the #3/6 play-in game, Diamond Life rolled to a 13-5 win over the Orange County Crushers. In the semifinals, the Riptide edged Diamond Life 5-4 and the Carolina Bandits scored a 7-4 win over the North Wake Force. In the finals, the Riptide got revenge on the Bandits with a 5-4 win to take home the 11u Open title.

Rise White (VA) went 2-0 on Saturday and earned the #1 seed for Sunday with a 12-2 win over the Zebulon Cougars and a 14-1 win over Thunderstruck Baseball. In the semifinals on Sunday, the Carolina Armor defeated the Cougars 11-9 and Rise White rolled to an 11-1 win over Thunderstruck Baseball. In the finals, Rise White finished off an impressive weekend with a 15-0 win over the Carolina Armor.
