Two age groups, 12u and 13u (and 18u), were in action in the opening weekend at the USSSA Charlotte site. It's still very early in the USSSA season, but we've posted a brief recap of the weekend's games.

The Lake Norman Hurricanes went 1-1 in pool play in this 3-team division, scoring a 21-2 win over the Indian Land Braves but falling to Team Husqvarna (SC) 13-9. Team Husqvarna scored a 19-2 win over the Braves in their other pool play game to set up a rematch with the Hurricanes in the finals. In the finals match up, Team Husqvarna was able to score another win over the Lake Norma Hurricanes with a 9-1 win.

Athlete's Warehouse (AW) went 2-0 on Saturday, scoring a 12-0 win over OTK and an 11-0 win over Carolina Rockies - Wilson. The Rockies topped Dirtbags Nationals 5-4 in their other pool play game on Saturday. Dirtbags Nationals finished 1-1 in pool play with a 9-1 win over SBA Elite on Saturday, while SBA Elite tied OTK 6-6 in their other pool play game. In Sunday bracket play, OTK topped SBA Elite 11-0 to reach the semifinals. In the semifinals, Carolina Rockies - Wilson topped Dirtbags Nationals 10-2 and Athlete's Warehouse scored a 10-3 win over OTK. In the finals, the Rockies topped Athlete's Warehouse 14-6 to take home the 13u title.
