There should be an interesting weekend of play for the North Carolina USSSA sites. There aren’t as many teams in action, but there are a number of top 10 and top 20 in action. We’ve provided a brief summary of the weekend’s upcoming games.
Charlotte
9u
#10 Piedmont Panthers will be the highest-ranked team in the 9u field this weekend in Charlotte. #14 Haywood Havoc are also in this field and these two will go head-to-head in pool play in what should be a great match up. The Panthers will also face Copperheads – Sigler, while the Havoc will take on Ripstixx Baseball in their other pool play games. The Panthers are 7-3 this spring and 30-4 overall as a 9u team. They’ll be looking to build and their most recent tournament where they scored wins over #13 Carolina Blue Mizuno and #20 Union County Crush. The Havoc dropped 3 games this past weekend so they’ll be looking to bounce back in a big way this week.

9u #5 SBA Canes – Pitts will be playing up in the 10u age group and will take on the Lake Norman Dingers and CBC on Saturday. The Canes are 12-6-1 this spring, and this will be the third time this spring they’ve tested their hand in the 10u age group.

#2 SBA Canes – Ross is back in action this weekend and will face Park Sharon and CBC – Cunningham in their two pool play games. They are 22-8 this spring (43-13 overall) and coming off a tournament win at the Triple Crown Sports Back to School Backyard Brawl in Georgia. #18 Vision Bandits is also in the field and will face Ultimate Performance and Dirtbags 2025 in pool play. The Bandits are 1-1 against Canes – Ross as an 11u team, scoring a 3-1 last fall as well as a 9-1 defeat earlier this spring.

#4 Park Sharon Nationals are the headliner in the 12u field and will take on the On Deck O’s Black and SBA Canes – Ritter in pool play. The Nationals hold a 13-2 win over On Deck from earlier this spring. Recently ranked Carolina Prime 2024 will take on Heat Baseball and Copperheads – Gaffney in their two pool play games.

#12 Dirtbags Charlotte are the only ranked team in the 13u field in Charlotte this weekend. They’ll take on SBA Canes – Cruz and Team 24 Gamecocks – Douglas in pool play on Saturday.
Greensboro

#8 Carolina Vandals will be in the 8u field this weekend. The Vandals will take on GRIT 7u and Spartans – Nichols in pool play.
9u
#7 Five Star Carolina – Hilton and #9 Smash Baseball are the headliners in Greensboro this weekend. Five Star will face the Carolina Strikers and Spartans – Andrews in their pool play games while Smash will face Dirtbags VA and the Diamond Deacons in pool play. Previously ranked Summerfield Stars and Diamond Deacons will also be in the 9u field in Greensboro. The Stars will take on the Pfafftown Radiers and GRIT, while the Deacons will face Dirtbags VA in addition to Smash.

No ranked teams are in the field this weekend in Greensboro. This should be a competitive weekend with GBC Prospects and Triad Thunder in the field. The Prospects and Thunder will go head-to-head on Saturday in one pool play game. The Prospects and the Thunder will also both take on the Triad Titans in their other pool play games.
