Unfortunately it was another rain-shortened weekend of baseball across the state of North Carolina. Despite the rain, there were a number of top 20 teams in play as well as some top 10 and 20 match ups at the Top Gun sites. Here’s a brief recap of this weekend’s games.

The Tega Cay Titans (SC) went 2-0 on Saturday with a 9-3 win over Kings Mountain Storm and a 15-0 win over the Carolina Spinners.

#14 Lake Norman Thunder went 1-1 on Saturday with a 17-2 win over SBA Canes Red and a 14-4 loss to Carolina Blue Mizuno. Carolina Blue went 2-0 on Saturday with a 9-7 win over the LKN Hurricanes – Mann in addition to their win over the Thunder. The CCBA Bombers also went 2-0 on Saturday scoring a 9-8 win over Team 24 Gamecocks – Wilson (SC) and a 7-6 win over the Belmont Bandits. The Charlotte Titans also went 2-0 on Saturday with a 10-6 win over Elite 9 (SC) and a 9-2 win over the Belmont Bandits.

#11 Belmont Bandits continued their excellent play against 10u competition this spring with a 2-0 Saturday including an 11-1 win over the Carolina Spinners and a 10-0 win over Heat Baseball. Copperheads – Snell/Heis also went 2-0 on Saturday with a 10-5 win over the Carolina Bullfrogs and a 9-2 win over Heat Baseball.

Three teams went undefeated in pool play on Saturday in Charlotte. The Stealth Elite Orioles defeated Elite Baseball EBC 10-2 and SBA Canes LKN 10-7, while Rivals Baseball (SC) defeated the On Deck O’s 8-6 and Ultimate Performance 16-1. The Belmont Bombers also went 2-0 scoring a 4-2 win over the Davidson Force and a 6-4 win over the Lake Norman Hammerheads.

#7 SBA Canes – Erwin went 2-0 on Saturday with a 9-2 win over Copperheads – Rowland and a 6-5 win over the Coul Oak Hurricanes. #8 Carolina Blue Sox also went 2-0 on Saturday scoring an 11-2 win over Copperheads – Herkey and a 19-2 win over Copperheads – Rowland. #12 LKN Attack also went 2-0 on Saturday, notching an 11-1 win over the On Deck O’s and an 8-0 win over Team 24 Gamecocks – Latham (SC).

The Vision Bandits went 2-0 on Saturday with a 6-0 win over the Carolina Thunder and a 17-0 win over Grand Slam USA Stars. The Stealth Elite Falcons scored two wins on Saturday including a 12-1 win over Carolina Heat NC and a 14-1 win over HQ4 Clippers. Myers Park Trinity was also 2-0 with a 16-8 win over the Lake Wylie Warriors and an 8-2 win over Vision Bandits White. Copperheads – Russ was 2-0 on Saturday with a 6-0 win over the Carolina Thunder and a 10-8 win over the Grand Slam Stars. Dirtbags Gold also went 2-0 in pool play, scoring an 8-5 win over HQ4 Clippers and a 16-1 win over Carolina Heat NC.

In the finals, West Raleigh avenged their pool play loss with a 12-1 win over the Warhawks.

#5 Dirtbags Black was only able to get in one game before the rain on Saturday. They suffered a tough 12-11 loss to the Carolina Stingers. The Stingers went 2-0 on Saturday with a 19-11 win over the Cleveland Wildcats Black in their other game on Saturday. The Carolina Freedom also went 2-0 on Saturday with a 7-5 win over the Carolina Storm Surge and a 16-11 win over the Rocky Mount Marshals 2028.

#11 NCDB Rivercats went 1-0 on Saturday with a 9-7 win over #17 GBI Express. GBI went 0-2 on Saturday with a 7-0 loss to Smash Baseball, in addition to their loss to NCDB. Smash, who continues to play well after some early setbacks this spring, finished 2-0 on Saturday with another 7-0 shutout win over MVP Red. The Wilson Reds finished 0-1 on Saturday with a 6-5 loss to MVP Red.

It was a good day for the Dirtbags organization in the 10u age group as both #7 Dirtbags East and #8 Dirtbags Platinum went 2-0 on Saturday. Dirtbags Platinum scored an 8-3 win over the East Carolina Bombers and an 11-4 win over #5 Carolina Thunder, while Dirtbags East notched a 15-1 win over #13 NCDB Rivercats and a 7-6 win over the FV Wildcats. The Thunder also lost 13-8 to the Bombers, while FV and NCDB were unable to get in their final game against one another on Saturday.

The Canes went 1-1 with a 7-2 win over the Carolina Wildcards in their other game on Saturday.
