Despite the Easter holiday weekend, there are still a small number of games in Saturday-only events this weekend for Top Gun. Should be a great #7 vs #19 match up in the 10u age group with the Belmont Bandits taking on the Carolina Havoc at the Concord/Locust site. Here’s a brief preview of the Saturday games.
Charlotte
9u
7 teams will be in action in this one-day event in Charlotte. The Stealth Elite Eagles a 6-2 start this spring in Top Gun play and will take on the Cherryville Bombers and the Belmont Bandits in their pool play games. The top two seeds after pool play will meet in a one-game championship.
11u
11 teams are in the field this weekend in the 11u age group. Although none of our top 20 are in the field, there are several quality teams including Team USA Diamond King, the Vision Bandits, the Carolina Astros, and Hutters in this field. It will be a hectic two-game round robin event followed by the top two seeds facing off in the finals and the #3 and #4 seeds going head-to-head in a consolation final.
12u
The 12u age group will be a round robin event between Elite Baseball EBC, the Belmont Bandits, and Copperheads – Gaffney.
13u
5 teams will face off in the 60/90 division this weekend. They are led by #4 Akadema Baseball Gray, who will face the Karolina Kraken and Elite Baseball EBC in their two pool play games. The top two seeds after pool play will meet in a one-game championship.
Concord/Locust
10u
#7 Belmont Bandits and #19 Carolina Havoc are both in this one-day, 5-team field, and they’ll go head-to-head in pool play on Saturday. The Bandits will also take on Bonecrushers, while the Havoc will face Power Cross in their other pool play games. The top two seeds after pool play will meet in a one-game championship.
Goldsboro
12u
No top 20 teams will be in either the Open division or the D3 division this weekend in Goldsboro. Team 24 Gamecocks – Brown (SC) will be making the trip up from South Carolina and will be tough competition for the North Carolina teams. They’ll take on the NSA Ballerz and the New Bern Flames in their pool play games in this one-day event. The top two seeds after pool play will meet in a one-game championship.
Thomasville/Greensboro
9u
There will be a 4-team field (Dirtbags Gold, DiStefano’s Bear Claws, Kannapolis Krushers, and SouthWest Ripperz) on Saturday in the 9u age group. This will be the first Top Gun action for all 4 of these teams this spring. The top two seeds after pool play will meet in a one-game championship.
12u
It will be a 7-team one-day event in the 12u age group in Greensboro this weekend. None of our top 20 are in the field, however several quality teams including 5 Star Carolina – Smith and the River City Red Birds (VA) will take their shot in this one-day event. The top two seeds after pool play will meet in a one-game championship.
