NC GameOn Recap 4/13-4/14/19

There were a host of regionally and state-wide ranked teams in action in Asheville and Clemmons at the NC GameOn sites this past weekend. Unfortunately, weather again halted some play in Asheville on Sunday, but there were a handful of matchups between ranked teams and some impressive performances this past weekend. Here we recap the weekend of games across the NC GameOn sites  in North Carolina.

Asheville

10u

South Carolina #4 Palmetto Prospects went 2-0 on Saturday with a 9-0 win over Arsenal Baseball and a 6-1 win over Carolina Flight (KW), and earned the top seed for bracket play. North Carolina #19 Five Star Heat scored the #2 seed with a 5-0 win over Mountain Region #5 Haywood Havoc and a 4-3 win over NC #13 Carolina Rockies Black. The Rockies fell 6-5 against NC #10 Union County Crush - Walker in their other pool play game to finish 0-2 for the day on Saturday. Crush - Walker notched a 14-4 win over the Havoc in their other pool play and scored the #3 seed for Sunday. In the #3/6 play-in game, the Haywood Havoc blanked Crush - Walker 5-0. In the #4/5 play-in game, Flight (KW) got past Carolina Rockies Black 5-3. In the #2/7 play-in game, Five Star Heat rolled to a 14-3 win over Arsenal Baseball. In the first semifinal, Flight (KW) scored a 7-5 win over the Palmetto Prospects. Unfortunately, the remainder of games in the 10u age group were not able to be completed due to weather.

The L-town Lightning went 2-0 on Saturday with a 6-4 win over the Carolina Crusaders and a 16-1 win over Mountain Region #3 DC Vipers and earned the #1 seed for Sunday. The Burke Thunder went 0-2 in pool play on Sunday, falling 16-1 against the Carolina Crusaders and 16-1 against the DC Vipers. In the semifinals on Sunday, the DC Vipers topped the Crusaders 9-5 and the Lightning blanked the Burke Thunder 14-0. In the finals, the L-town Lightning finished off a 4-0 weekend with a 13-5 win over the DC Vipers.

Rawlings Stars Prospects NC went 2-0 on Saturday, notching a 10-4 win over NC #13 Big Game 2025 and a 5-4 win over the WNC Thunder. Big Game topped the Thunder 9-2 in their other pool play game. Triad Region #4 Triad Thunder also went 2-0 on Saturday, rolling to a 12-3 win over the Carolina Curve and 11-1 against the WNC Thunder. Only one game was able to be played on Sunday because of weather. In that game, #5 seed WNC Thunder topped #4 seed Carolina Curve 7-1.

Triad Region #5 Summerfield Stars went 2-0 in pool play, scoring a 15-3 win over the Carolina Bulldogs and a 9-8 win over the Triad Cardinals in pool play and earned the #2 seed for Sunday. The #1 seed went to the Carolina Impact who topped Spartans - Allen 6-1 and the Triad Cardinals 13-3 in pool play. In the #4/5 play-in game on Sunday, the Triad Cardinals edged past the Carolina Bulldogs 9-8. In the semifinals, the Summerfield Stars blanked Spartans - Allen 6-0 and the Triad Cardinals scored a 10-4 win over the Carolina Impact. In the finals, the Summerfield Stars finished off a 4-0 weekend with a 14-0 win over the Triad Cardinals.

Triad Region #5 Diamond Deacons went 2-0 in pool play on Saturday, notching a 12-8 win over the Carolina Combat and a 12-3 win over the Pilot Mountain Dirtbags. This earned the Deacons the #2 seed for bracket play. Five Star Carolina - Lance received the #1 seed for bracket play on Sunday after they beat the Davidson Crush 11-2 and the Pilot Mountain Dirtbags 9-1 in their pool play games. The Crush rolled to a 17-2 win over NCBA in their other pool play game and earned the #3 seed for bracket play. In the #3/6 play-in game on Sunday, the Davidson Crush blanked NCBA 10-0. In the #4/5 play-in game, the Pilot Mountain Dirtbags edged past the Carolina Combat 5-4. In the semifinals, the Davidson Crush edged past the Diamond Deacons 3-2 and the Pilot Mountain Dirtbags scored a 1-run 9-8 win over Five Star - Lance. In the finals, the Davidson Crush got past Five Star - Lance 12-8 to take home the 10u title in Clemmons.

Mountain Region #4 Venom Stars went 2-0 on Saturday, topping the Triad Cardinals 12-7 before scoring a 12-9 win over the Rock Solid Bulldogs. This earned the Venom Stars the #2 seed for Sunday. The #1 seed went to the Carolina Rockies White, who beat the Diamond Deacons 9-2 and the Rock Solid Bulldogs 11-8 in pool play. The Deacons notched a 12-7 win over Carolina Impact - Routh in their other pool play game and received the #4 seed for Sunday. In the #2/7 play-in game, the Venom Stars rolled to a 12-2 win over the Rock Solid Bulldogs. In the #3/6 play-in game on Sunday, Elite Baseball rolled to a 17-7 win over Carolina Impact - Routh. In the #4/5 play-in game, the Diamond Deacons edged past the Triad Cardinals 6-5. In the semifinals, the Diamond Deacons scored a 6-4 win over Carolina Rockies White while the Venom Stars blasted their way to a 10-3 win over Elite Baseball. In the finals, the Venom Stars finished off a 5-0 weekend with a 10-1 win over the Diamond Deacons.
