AAU Recap Cary/Oxford 9/22-9/23/18

AAU had some great games this past weekend at their Cary/Oxford sites across multiple age groups. There some outstanding performances and several teams made big statements. Here we recap the weekend's games from Cary/Oxford.

Cleveland Wildcats Black went 2-0 on Saturday with a 15-3 win over the NCDB Rivercats and a 15-4 win over the East Coast Copperheads. West Raleigh Blue also went 2-0 on Saturday, scoring a 16-5 win over the NCDB Rivercats and a 16-1 win over the East Coast Copperheads. In the semifinals on Sunday, the Wildcats blanked the East Coast Copperheads and West Raleigh Blue scored a 10-2 win over the Rivercats. In the finals, West Raleigh Blue notched a 13-5 win over Cleveland Wildcats Black to complete a 4-0 weekend.

The Carolina Freedom went 2-0 with an 11-1 win over FUNGO - Piscorik and a 16-0 win over Triangle Hawks Blue. FUNGO scored a 14-2 win over the HYAA Hawks in their other pool play game. The Carolina Storm Surge also went 2-0 in pool play with a 28-4 win over Extreme Baseball and a 15-2 win over Triangle Hawks Blue. In the bracket play play-in games on Sunday, the HYAA Hawks topped Extreme Baseball 13-6 and FUNGO scored a 22-3 win over the Sandhill Stingrays. In the semifinals, the Carolina Freedom notched a 12-5 win over the HYAA Hawks and FUNGO scored an 11-1 win over the Carolina Storm Surge. In the finals, the Carolina Freedom edged past FUNGO - Piscorik 7-6 to take home the 9u title in Oxford.

Smash Baseball, who finished 13th in our final 2017-2018 9u rankings, went 1-1 in pool play with a 17-2 win over Dirtbags Camo and an 11-8 loss against the Carolina Thunder. The Thunder fell 9-8 against DiStefano's Bear Claws in their other pool play game on Saturday. The OC Crushers went 2-0 in pool play with a 4-3 win over the Riptide and an 11-10 win over the Bear Claws. In the Gold bracket play-in game, the Bear Claws topped the Thunder 7-6. In the semifinals, Smash Baseball notched a 20-3 win over the Riptide and the Bear Claws scored a 9-6 win over the OC Crushers. In the finals, Smash Baseball blasted their way to a 17-1 win over the Bear Claws to take home the 10u title.

The Carolina Outlaws went 2-0 in pool play with a 6-2 win over West Raleigh White and a 10-2 win over the South Wake Storm. West Raleigh White scored a 5-2 win over the South Wake Storm in their other pool play game. The Carolina Cubs went 1-1 in pool play with a 12-8 win over the North Wake Cardinals and a 6-5 loss against the Riptide. The Cardinals topped the Riptide 8-5 in their other pool play game. In the bracket play play-in games, the Cubs topped the South Wake Storm 7-0 and West Raleigh White scored an 8-3 win over the North Wake Cardinals. In the semifinals, West Raleigh topped the Riptide 10-9 and the Outlaws blanked the Cubs 7-0. In the finals, the Outlaws completed a 4-0 weekend with an 11-4 win over West Raleigh White.

The Durham Blues went 2-0 in pool play with a 7-4 win over the Dirt Devils and a 5-4 win over the OC Crushers. The North Wake Shockwave also went 2-0 in pool play with a 14-4 win over Purpose Driven South and a 6-2 win over the Crusaders. RISE Red was also 2-0 in pool play, scoring a 9-8 win over the Dirt Devils and a 4-2 win over the Cleveland Wildcats. The Triangle Hawks Blue also went 2-0 with a 9-3 win over the Cleveland Wildcats and an 11-4 win over the Crusaders. In the bracket play play-in game, Purpose Driven South scored a 5-4 win over RISE Red. In the semifinals, Purpose Driven South notched a 6-4 win over the North Wake Shockwave and the Durham Blues edged past the Triangle Hawks Blue 11-10. In the finals, the Durham Blues completed an undefeated weekend with a 10-3 win over Purpose Driven South.

AA

Purpose Driven North went 2-0 in pool play with a 10-2 win over the Carolina Outlaws and an 8-3 win over the Zebulon Cougars. The Outlaws topped Triangle Hawks Black 7-1 in their other pool play game. The North Wake Avalanche went 1-1 in pool play with an 8-2 win over the Virginia Squires and a 7-4 loss against the Riptide. In the Gold bracket play-in game, the Carolina Outlaws scored a 10-6 win over D1 Performance. In the semifinals, the Avalanche rolled to a 14-1 win over the Rawlings Prospects and the Outlaws edged past Purpose Driven North 3-2. In the finals, the North Wake Avalanche topped the Outlaws 9-7 to take home the 12u AA titles.

In pool play, 4G3 Training Facility scored a 7-3 win over the Cary Wildcats and a 16-1 win over the Clayton Stampede. The Carolina Thunder also went 2-0 in pool play with a 7-6 win over the Cary Wildcats and a 7-4 win over the Clayton Stampede. In the semifinals on Sunday, 4G3 scored a 12-1 win over the Stampede and the Cary Wildcats notched a 10-6 win over the Carolina Thunder. In the finals, 4G3 Training Facility finished off an undefeated weekend with an 11-3 win over the Cary Wildcats.
