This past weekend the AAU sites featured a couple of all-Dirtbags finals and a dominating run by the 10u NCDB Rivercats. Several top 10 and top 20 teams were in action as well. Check out the full recap of the weekend’s AAU games.

#14 Carolina Thunder was 2-0 on Saturday with a 17-6 win over Red Sox – Koontz and a 14-1 win over EW Havoc. The Diamond Deacons went 2-0 in pool play with a 16-0 win over Proehlific Power and a 13-1 win over the EW Havoc. 9u #18 Carolina Red Sox – Jones also went 2-0 in pool play with a 10-3 win over Spartans – Speaks and a 7-2 win over L-town Lightning. Luckies – Taylor was 2-0 in pool play as well, scoring a 10-2 win over Red Sox Koontz and a 8-7 win over Big Cats Baseball. In the play-in games, the Thunder blanked Spartans – Speaks 8-0 and Luckies – Taylor edged L-town Lightning 7-4. In the semifinals, Red Sox – Jones took out the Thunder 7-6 while the Diamond Deacons topped Luckies -Taylor 7-6. In the finals, the Deacons were able to hold off Red Sox – Jones 8-6 to finish 4-0 for the weekend.

The Black Mambas went 2-0 on Saturday scoring a 13-3 win over Spartans – Hutchens and a 8-4 win over the Statesville Sluggers. The Spartans lost their other pool play game 7-6 to the Statesville Sluggers. State Line Pride (VA) also went 2-0 in pool play with an 8-7 win over SBA Canes – Pickard and a 15-6 win over Select Baseball. In the play-in game, the Spartans topped the Sluggers 8-4 in a rematch from Saturday. In the semifinals, the Spartans edged the Black Mambas 4-3 in another pool play rematch, while the State Line Prine took our SBA Canes – Pickard 7-5 in their own rematch from pool play. In the finals, the Spartans completed the improbable turn around from a winless pool play to top State Line Pride 12-2 and take home the title.

The South Rowan Hammerheads went 2-0 on Saturday scoring a 5-3 win over the Southwest Colts and a 7-0 win over Big Game Sluggers. Spartans – Keaton was also 2-0 in pool play with an 11-1 win over Select Gold and a 9-2 win over the Camel City Bombers. Athlete’s Warehouse also finished 2-0, scoring a 14-2 win over PBC and a 10-5 win over Cougars Baseball. Finally, the Diamond Deacons were also 2-0 in pool play with a 12-8 win over the Carolina Voodoo and an 8-3 win over Hutters. In bracket play, Athlete’s Warehouse topped Select Gold 10-0 while the Diamond Deacons scored a 7-6 win over Big Game Sluggers to reach the semifinals. In the semifinals, the Hammerheads beat Athlete’s Warehouse 6-1 while the Spartans topped the Deacons 8-2. In the finals, the Hammerheads edged out the Spartans 3-2.

#7 Dirtbags Smith went 1-1 in pool play, dropping a 7-1 decision to #11 Carolina Havoc – Clonch and winning a 12-3 game over the Carolina Blaze. The Havoc scored a 16-7 win over the Deacons in their other pool play game. The VA Dirtbags went 2-0 in pool play with a 9-1 win over the Carolina Blaze and a 13-2 win over the Diamond Deacons. In the play-in game, the Deacons topped the Blaze 8-7. In the semifinals, the VA Dirtbags scored an 8-5 win over the Deaconswhile Dirtbags – Smith edged the Havoc 6-5. In the all-Dirtbags final, the VA Dirtbags came out on top of Dirtbags – Smith 8-4.

The Carteret County Patriots finished 4-0 for the weekend scoring a 15-4 win over Extreme 9u and a 10-0 win over the Wayne County Ripperz on Saturday. On Sunday, they followed up there Saturday performance with a 13-3 win over Extreme 9u and an 11-1 win over the Wayne County Ripperz.

Dirtbags Gold went 2-0 on Saturday with a 13-5 win over D1 Performance and an 18-7 win over the South Granville Red Sox. The Carolina Flash also went 2-0 in pool play, scoring an 18-3 win over D1 performance and a 16-1 win over the Red Sox. On Sunday, the Dirtbags topped D1 11-6 while the Flash blanked the Red Sox 13-0 to set up a match up of 3-0 teams in the finals. In the finals, the Flash took an 11-5 win over the Dirtbags.

Recently ranked NCDB Rivercats looked to get back on track this spring this past weekend and started their tournament run in good fashion in pool play, scoring an 8-3 win over the Southside Panthers (VA) and a 19-1 win over the Star City Blaze (VA). The North Wake Elite also went 2-0 on Saturday with a 14-4 win over the Blaze and a 7-5 win over the Panthers. The Virginia Squires also went 2-0 on Saturday after they defeated the Riptide 12-4 and notched a 20-5 win over the Carolina Dodgers. In the play-in game on Sunday, D1 Performance topped the Dodgers 14-1. In the semifinals, the Elite blasted the Squires 21-6 while NCDB rolled over D1 14-4 to set up a finals of undefeated teams. In the finals, NCDB was able to blow open a close game and score a 19-7 win over the Elite to secure a 4-0 weekend. For the weekend, the Rivercats outscored opponents a combined 60-15.

#20 Dirtbags East went 2-0 in pool play with a 13-3 win over Zone Select and an 8-0 win over D1 Performance. Dirtbags Elite was also 2-0 on Saturday, notching a 15-4 win over the Riptide and a 15-0 win over Phoenix Elite. Previously ranked Carolina Titans Blue was 2-0 in pool play as well, scoring a 22-3 win over the Rawlings Prospects and a 7-2 win over the HYAA Hawks. The North Wake Shockwave was 2-0 in pool play with an 11-2 win over the Zebulon Cougars and a 5-3 win over Purpose Driven North. In bracket play, the Titans Blue beat the HYAA Hawks 14-1, Dirtbags Elite beat the North Wake Avalanche 16-1, the Shockwave topped Purpose Drive 10-9, and Dirtbags East beat Phoenix Elite 14-6. In the semifinals, Dirtbags Elite topped the Titans Blue 14-6 while Dirtbags East beat the Shockwave 10-2 to set up an all-Dirtbags finals. In the finals, it was Dirtbags Elite over Dirtbags East 8-6 to complete their 5-0 weekend.
