Although some teams were in action last weekend at the USSSA President's Day event last weekend in Florida, the upcoming weekend will see a number of teams in action across the state. It remains to be seen if weather will keep these games from being played, although this seems likely. Here's a brief preview of who will be in action this weekend.
Top Gun
Top Gun has already rained out their North Carolina Umpire training events for Saturday. On Sunday, there will be an attempt to play in the Charlotte area. 9u #13 SBA Spinners and #19 DB Raptors will both be in action at the Charlotte site, however they will not face one another in the 2-game event. The Spinners are set to take on the Waxhaw Heat and Mission Baseball - Smith while the DB Raptors will face the CBA Copperheads and the Waxhaw Heat. SC 11u #1 Team 24 Gamecocks - Ashley will compete in the 12u division, as will 12u #19 LKN Hurricanes. Team 24 will go against Team Carolina and the SOTG Muddawgs while the Hurricanes will face off against Stewards of the Game Storm and Elite Baseball EBC. In the 13u division, a team we are very excited for, #8 Five Star Carolina - Queler, will be up against WCW Black and the Pineville Blue Sox in their first action of 2020.
USSSA
USSSA will have teams from 5 age groups active in Wilmington this weekend. 8u #12 Wilmington Seahawks will take on Coastal Region #4 Leland Lugnuts in a double-header. 10u #19 Coastal Cyclones will go against #22 Wilmington Wolfpack and the Wilmington Whitecaps, while the Wolfpack are set to take on the Wilmington Rays in their other game this weekend. SC 12u #3 East Coast Snipers - Clark/Hill are scheduled to face off with the Wilmington Rays and the Wilmington Seahawks in their two games on Sunday.
