It was a lighter weekend this past weekend for USSSA. Nevertheless, a handful of top 10 and top 20 were in action across the state. 9u #4 SBA Canes – Pitts and #7 Smash Baseball both put up impressive performances in Charlotte and Greensboro, respectively. #11 Haywood Havoc blasted their way to a 17-1 win over Ripstix Baseball and edged out #12 Piedmont Panthers 7-6 in their two pool play games. The Panthers scored a 10-4 win over Copperheads – Sigler in their other pool play game. The Mission Vipers went 2-0 in pool play with a 13-4 win over the L-town Hurricanes and a 12-4 win over Copperheads – Sigler. On Sunday, the Hurricanes topped the Ripstix 7-6 in one play-in game, while Copperheads beat the Panthers 9-8 in the other play-in game. In the semifinals, the Havoc beat the Hurricanes 13-4 and the Vipers edged out Copperheads 6-4. In the finals, the Havoc completed a 4-0 weekend with a 12-9 win over the Mission Vipers.

9u #4 SBA Canes – Pitts scored a 10-1 win over CBC and an 11-1 win over the LKN Dingers playing up in the 10u age group this past weekend. Elite 9 (SC) also went 2-0 in pool play with a 9-1 win over Ultimate Performance and a 15-8 win over Battalion. The Carolina Patriots were also 2-0 in pool play, notching a 16-1 win over Ultimate Performance and an 11-7 win over Battalion. In the play-in game, Battalion topped Ultimate Performance 12-6. In the semifinals, Elite 9 beat the Patriots 13-7 while SBA Canes – Pitts blanked Battalion 7-0. In the finals, Elite 9 was able to get past Canes – Pitts 13-8 to take home the 10u crown.

#2 SBA Canes – Ross went 2-0 in pool play with a 15-4 win over the Park Sharon Nationals and an 8-0 win over CBC – Cunnigham. #16 Vision Bandits also went 2-0 on Saturday, scoring a 15-7 win over Ultimate Performance and a 12-4 win over Dirtbags 2025. In the play-in games, Dirtbags 2025 beat Ultimate Performance 11-2 while CBC – Cunningham beat Park Sharon 10-0. In the semifinals, Canes – Ross beat the Dirtbags 9-1 while the Vision Bandits took a 10-3 win over CBC – Cunnigham. In the finals, Canes – Ross finished off an undefeated weekend with a 6-2 win over the Vision Bandits.

#3 Park Sharon Nationals went 1-0-1 in pool play with a 10-2 win over the On Deck O’s Black and a 4-4 tie to SBA Canes – Ritter. Team 24 Gamecocks – Miller (SC) went 2-0 on Saturday with a 9-1 win over the On Deck O’s Black and a 10-2 win over the LE Gray Hawks. Kings Mountain Storm was also 2-0 in pool play, scoring a 7-6 win over Ultimate Performance and an 8-3 win over the Belmont Kingsmen. Carolina Prime 2024 was 2-0 on Saturday, notching a 9-0 win over Heat Baseball and a 5-4 win over Copperheads – Gaffney in their two pool play games. In the quarterfinals, Southern Athletics topped the On Deck O’s 19-4, Copperheads – Gaffney beat Canes – Ritter 10-5, Ultimate Performance beat Carolina Prime 12-4, and the Park Sharon Nationals beat CBC – Pavone 11-3. In the semifinals, the Copperheads topped Southern Athletics 10-6 and Park Sharon scored a 14-6 win over Ultimate Performance. In the finals, Park Sharon completed a 4-0-1 weekend with a 13-3 win over Copperheads – Gaffney. In the National bracket, Team 24 topped Heat Baseball 9-5 while the Storm beat the Gray Hawks 12-4. In the National bracket finals, Team 24 blasted the Storm 14-3.

#12 Dirtbags Charlotte went 1-1 on Saturday with a 8-7 loss to the SBA Canes – Cruz and a 15-1 win over Team 24 Gamecocks – Douglas (SC). Canes – Cruz went 2-0 with a 13-1 win over the Carolina Reds in addition to their win over the Dirtbags. On Sunday, the Dirtbags went 2-0, scoring a 21-0 win over the Carolina Reds, and a 14-6 win over SBA – Cruz in the finals. Team 24 topped SBA – Cruz 8-4 on Sunday as well.

#8 Carolina Vandals went 2-0 in pool play with a 15-7 win over GRIT 7u and an 11-3 win over Spartans – Nichols. Rogue Baseball also went 2-0 on Saturday, scoring an 8-4 win over Proehlific Power and an 8-2 win over Spartans – Nichols. In bracket play, Proehlific Power topped Spartans – Nichols 15-12 in the play-in game. The Vandals topped GRIT 7u 13-5 in one semifinal, while Rogue Baseball beat the Power 13-5 in the other semifinal. In the finals, the Vandals beat Rogue Baseball 14-3 to finish 4-0 for the weekend.

#7 Smash Baseball went 2-0 in pool play with a 9-1 win over the VA Dirtbags and a 15-3 win over the Diamond Deacons. #10 Five Star Carolina – Hilton went 2-0 in pool play, scoring a 26-2 win over the Carolina Strikers and a 25-0 win over Spartans – Andrews. The Summerfield Stars also went 2-0 on Saturday with a 10-4 win over GRIT and a 9-1 win over the Pfafftown Raiders. The Carolina Impact also notched an undefeated 2-0 record in pool play, notching a 10-2 win over Spartans – Andrews and a 12-2 win over the Carolina Strikers. In the play-in game, the Stars scored a 9-1 win over the Raiders. In the semifinals, Smash shut out the Impact 13-0 while Five Star scored an 11-7 win over the Stars. In the finals, Smash concluded a dominant tournament run with a 17-4 win over Five Star. For the weekend, Smash outscored their opponents 54-8 in four games.

The GBC Prospects went 2-0 on Saturday with a 6-5 win over the Triad Thunder and a 14-6 win over the Triad Prospects. Stokes Sox also went 2-0 in pool play scoring an 11-9 win over GRIT – Jones and a 6-4 win over Power Baseball. In the play-in games, the Thunder topped the Titans 10-5 while GRIT – Jones edged out Power Baseball 11-10. In the semifinals, the Stokes Sox blanked the Thunder 12-0 while GBC scored a 12-11 win over GRIT – Jones. In the finals match up of undefeated teams, the Sox were able to escape with a 6-5 win over the GBC Prospects.
