There were a few USSSA sites in action this weekend. Mission Vipers and SBA Canes were back in action in the Charlotte site and put on some impressive performances. Here’s a brief recap of the USSSA action this past weekend.

The Carolina Reds went 2-0 on Saturday with a 18-2 win over Ripstix Baseball (SC) and a 9-1 win over the Carolina Arsenal. The Arsenal also score a 27-1 win over Ripstix on Saturday. On Sunday, the Arsenal topped Ripstix 14-6 in the semifinal and blanked the Reds in their rematch 11-0. Carolina Blue Mizuno also played two games on Sunday going 1-1 with a 10-2 win over Ripstix and a 7-6 loss to the Arsenal.

11u #4 Mission Vipers – Gold went 2-0 on Saturday with a 7-5 win over the Carolina Athletics and an 11-8 win over Team 24 Gamecocks (SC). In the play-in game on Sunday, Carolina Blue Mizuno topped the Mission Vipers – Black 9-8 to reach the semifinal. In the semifinals, the Carolina Athletics rolled over Team 24 16-1 while Mission Vipers – Gold tolled Carolina Blue Mizuno 18-3. In the finals, the Mission Vipers – Gold again beat the Athletics, this time by the score of 12-4, to take home the 11u title.

SBA Canes – Mendez opened the spring in impressive fashion going 2-0 on Saturday with a 9-5 win over an excellent Team 24 Gamecocks – Brown (SC) squad and an 11-9 win over Team 24 Gamecocks – Stiles (SC). SBA Canes – Ritter went 1-1 on Saturday with a 5-4 loss to the MP Colonels and a 15-0 win over Upstate Select (SC). On Sunday, Gamecocks – Brown topped the MP Colonels 8-0 in the first play-in game, while Gamecocks – Stiles beat Upstate Select 10-2 in the other play-in game. In the semifinals, SBA Canes – Mendez beat the Gamecocks – Brown 10-6 while SBA Canes – Ritter beat the Gamecocks – Stiles to set up and all-SBA finals. In the finals, it was Canes – Mendez over Canes – Ritter 7-1. SBA Canes Thacker was also in action on Sunday and scored an 8-0 win over Upstate Select and a 12-5 win over Carolina Kraken.

The Luckies and Kernersville Cyclones split a double-header, with the Luckies taking game 1 11-1 and the Cyclones taking game 2 9-8.

The Luckies – Taylor went 2-0 on Saturday with a 5-4 win over GRIT and a 13-2 win over the Triad Thunder. GRIT went 1-1 on Saturday with a 9-6 win over the Luckies in addition to their loss to the Luckies – Taylor. On Sunday, the Luckies took out the Triad Thunder 13-5 to reach the semifinals. In the semifinals it was Proehlific Power over GRIT 7-4 and Luckies – Taylor over the Luckies 15-0. In the finals, Luckies – Taylor topped Proehlific Power 8-5 to take home the 10u title.

The Triad Thunder went 2-0 on Saturday with a 7-3 win over GRIT and a 6-1 win over East Rowan. On Sunday, Proehlific Power topped GRIT – Jones 5-2 in the play-in game. In the semifinals, East Rowan topped GRIT 9-8 while the Thunder blasted the Power 12-2. In the finals, it was the Thunder edging out East Rowan 7-6 to win the 11u title.

The Reidsville Luckies went 2-0 on Saturday with a 5-4 win over Outlaw Baseball and a 7-4 win over GRIT. GRIT topped Outlaw Baseball 2-1 in their other game on Saturday. On Sunday, GRIT again beat Outlaw Baseball by the slimmest of margins, this time 3-2, to meet the Luckies in the Finals. In the finals, the Luckies were able to outlast GRIT 5-4.
