USSSA had over a dozen top 20 teams across different age groups in play this weekend in the state of North Carolina. There were some really outstanding performances and certainly will be some shake ups in the rankings. Here’s a recap of this past weekend’s NC USSSA events.
Charlotte

#3 South Charlotte Cardinals, #5 East Rowan, and #7 Carolina Vandals were all in the field for this one-day event. The Vandals started their weekend with a 9-5 win over South Charlotte then followed that up with a 13-5 win over the Waxhaw Warriors. East Rowan was also able to edge out South Charlotte 12-11 in addition to scoring a 23-0 win over the Warriors. This set up a match up of East Rowan and the Vandals in the finals, and East Rowan was able to cruise to a 15-3 win. South Charlotte did score a 12-4 win over the Waxhaw Warriors in the consolation final.

Team 24 Gamecocks opened pool play with a 13-9 win over the Venom Stars and a 27-14 win over Hub City Hops. The Gtown Pirates also went 2-0 in pool play with a 15-7 win over the Venom Stars and an 11-8 win over the Pirates. In the semifinals, Team 24 scored a 12-6 win over the Venom Stars while Hub City was able to smash their way past the Pirates 21-15. In the finals, Team 24 completed their undefeated weekend with an 18-10 win over Hub City.

Carolina Blue Mizuno went 2-0 on Saturday with a 23-2 win over the Charlotte Nationals and a 13-3 win over the Carolina Arsenal. The Arsenal also beat the Nationals on Saturday 18-4 to finish 1-1. On Sunday, the Arsenal again beat the Nationals, this time 12-8, to reach the finals against Carolina Blue Mizuno. In the finals, the Arsenal got revenge on Carolina Blue with a 13-0 win to take home the 9u title.

Elite 9 went 2-0 on Saturday in pool play with a 12-6 win over SBA Canes – Sherer and a 15-4 win over Ultimate Performance. Team 24 Gamecocks (SC) also went 2-0 in pool play scoring a 17-2 win over Ultimate Performance and a 10-2 win over the Venom Stars. The Venom Stars also lost to the Carolina Reds (SC) by the score of 6-3 to go 0-2 in pool play. On Sunday, Elite 9 topped the Carolina Reds 6-4 in one semifinal while the Venom Stars edged Team 24 5-4. In the finals, the Venom Stars completed the bounce-back Sunday by topping Elite 9 13-10 to win the championship.

#4 Mission Vipers Gold went 2-0 in pool play with a 12-2 win over Carolina Blue Mizuno and a 10-4 win over the Carolina Athletics. #6 Big Game 2025 went 1-1 in pool play scoring a 9-7 win over Mission Vipers Black in addition to a 6-0 loss to the Carolina Athletics. Of note, 10u #2 SBA Canes – Marconi went 1-1 in pool play with a 15-1 win over Ultimate Performance and a 12-3 loss to Mission Vipers Black. On Sunday, Big Game 2025 topped SBA Canes – Marconi 7-4 in the play-in quarter final game. In the semifinals, Mission Vipers Gold topped Big Game 2025 5-4, while Mission Vipers Black beat the Carolina Athletics 11-4 to set up and all-Mission Vipers final. In the final, the Vipers Gold were able to defeat Vipers Black 9-5.

#13 Carolina Chaos had a bit of a rough go this weekend going 0-2 in pool play with a 9-2 loss to the SBA Canes – Thacker and a 13-3 loss to the Carolina Rockies. Team 24 Gamecocks – Miller (SC) went 1-1 in pool play with an 11-1 loss to the Rockies in addition to a 22-0 win over the Canes – Thacker on Saturday. In the quarterfinals on Sunday, the Rockies notched a 7-6 win over the Carolina Chaos, the SBA Grizzlies topped the On Deck O’s Black 13-1, Ultimate Performance edged WCWAA Baseball Academy, while Team 24 topped Canes – Thacker 13-4. In the semifinals, the Rockies scored a 12-4 win over SBA Grizzlies, while Team 24 earned a 10-7 win over Ultimate Performance. In the finals, Team 24 was able to pull out a 4-2 win over the Carolina Rockies to bring home the championship.

The Stingrays went 2-0 on Saturday with a 16-3 win over WCCS and an 8-3 win over Karolina Kraken. The Kraken finished 1-1 with a 13-1 win over WCCS in addition to their loss to the Stingrays.

The Youngsville Phantoms went 4-0 this weekend with a 14-6 win over the Little Scots and a 21-6 win over the Wilmington Whitecaps on Saturday. They followed that up with an 11-3 win over the Little Scots and a 12-5 win over the Wilmington Whitecaps on Sunday.

The 10u field in Fayetteville was absolutely loaded this weekend with #6 Port City Rebels, #8 Dirtbags Platinum, #14 Youngsville Heat, #17 Sandhills Stingrays, and an excellent Richmond Rockies team all in the field. Port City went 1-1 in pool play with a 12-5 win over the Rockies and a 9-8 loss to the Dirtbags. The Dirtbags went 2-0 in pool play with a 16-7 win over the Stingrays in addition to their win over Port City. The Stingrays struggled all weekend and lost their other pool play game 5-2 against the Heat. The Heat dropped their second pool play game 12-5 to the Richmond Rockies. On Sunday, the Rockies beat the Stingrays 11-7 to reach the semifinals. In the semifinals, Port City outlasted the Heat 7-3 while the Dirtbags were able to cruise past the Rockies 13-4. In the finals, Port City enacted some revenge on the Dirtbags, scoring an 11-0 win to secure the title amongst a great field of teams.

On Saturday, GRIT went 2-0 with a 18-10 win over the NC Young Guns and an 11-10 win over the Carolina Impact. The Young Guns also topped the Impact 13-2 to go 1-1 on Saturday. On Sunday, the Young Guns went 2-0, scoring an 11-5 win over Carolina Impact and a 17-3 win over GRIT. The Impact topped GRIT 4-3 to finish 1-1 on Sunday.

#10 Davidson County Rippers were back in action this weekend and went 2-0 in pool play on Saturday with a 10-4 win over the GBC Prospects and a 19-3 win over the Luckies. The Carolina Impact also went 2-0 in pool play with a 13-1 win over Proehlific Power and an 8-4 win over the Carolina Red Sox. On Sunday in the quarterfinals match-ups, the Luckies topped the Rippers 7-3, the Red Sox beat the Power 10-2 and the Prospects scored a 9-4 win over Dirtbags Gold. In the semifinals, it was the Impact over the Prospects 10-2 and the Luckies over the Red Sox 2-0. In the finals, the Impact exploded for a 20-10 victory over the Luckies.

#9 Alamance Patriots went 2-0 in pool play with a 28-5 win over the Luckies and a 9-5 win over the Luckies – Taylor. Proehlific Power also went 2-0 in pool play scoring a 10-8 win over the Carolina Patriots and a 9-6 win over Luckies. On Sunday, the Carolina Patriots topped Proehlific Power 8-4 in one semifinal while the Alamance Patriots blasted Luckies – Taylor 16-2 in the other semifinal. In the final, it was all Alamance, as they rolled to a 16-4 win over the Carolina Patriots.

#5 Five Star Carolina – Neyra was in action this weekend and started their weekend right, going 2-0 in pool play with a 20-0 win over the GBC Prospects and an 11-2 win over the Kernersville Bulldogs. The Alamance Angels also went 2-0 in pool play scoring a 12-2 win over Proehlific Power and a 14-2 win over the Piedmont Patriots. 10u #20 East Rowan also played up this weekend and went 1-1 in pool play with an 11-10 loss to GRIT and a 15-9 win over the Triad Thunder. In the quarterfinals on Sunday, the Virginia Militia rolled to a 10-1 win over the Triad Thunder, the Alamance Angles topped East Rowan 10u 11-3, Five Star Carolina beat GRIT 11-3 and the Bulldogs beat the Patriots 12-6. In the semifinals, the Angels beat the militia 7-3 while Five Star Carolina again topped the Bulldogs, this time by the score of 16-8. In the finals, it was all Five Star as they rolled over the Alamance Angels 18-8 to take home the 11u title.

The Diamond Deacons went 2-0 in pool play on Saturday with an 8-0 win over Outlaw Baseball and a 6-3 win over GRIT. Team VA also went 2-0 on Saturday with an 11-7 win over the Bengals and a 12-3 win over the Huntington Hounds (WV). In the semifinals on Sunday, the Hounds got their revenge on Team VA scoring a 14-5 win, while the Diamond Deacons rolled to a 16-1 win over GRIT. In the finals, the Hounds were able to outlast the Deacons en route to a 17-15 win.

The Asheville Braves went 2-0 on Saturday scoring a 17-0 win over the Easton Foothills Gators and an 11-9 win over the RBA Heels. The Heels also notched a 16-0 win over the Gators to finish 1-1 on the day.

The Haywood Havoc went 2-0 in this one-day event with a 12-3 win over Heat Baseball and a 19-1 win over the AC Sluggers. The Heat Black also went 2-0 with an 11-7 win over the Venom Stars and a 19-3 win over the Asheville Braves. RBA also went 2-0, scoring a 12-11 win over Heat Baseball and a 13-3 win over the Venom Stars.

Cougars Baseball also went 2-0 on Saturday. They notched a 10-7 win over the Carolina Travelers and a 4-3 win over RBA Blue.
