USSSA did not post the results of their umpire training/scrimmage games this past weekend. As such, we have done our best to try and summarize the results as best we could. Notably, these are focused on high ranked teams, and/or those with accessible Gamechanger pages on which the game was scored. The #4 Piedmont Panthers had a bit of a struggle this past weekend, losing 7-2 to an excellent Team 24 Gamecocks – Ashley (SC) team as well as a 12-4 loss to SBA Canes – Simmons on Sunday. They did score a 9-2 win over the LKN Hurricanes – Mann on Sunday. SBA Canes – Simmons had an excellent start to their season, going 4-0 for the weekend including a 17-3 win over Carolina Blue Mizuno, a 21-3 win over the LKN Hurricanes – Mann, and a 13-1 win over Ripstix, in addition to their win over the Piedmont Panthers.

10u #5 Carolina Havoc got their spring started on the right note, topping the Carolina Bullfrogs 14-3 and the Carolina Spinners 6-4.

#7 Carolina Blue Sox had games on both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. On Saturday, they fell to the #15 Weddington Warriors 6-3 and lost to the Lake Norman Hurricanes 6-4. On Sunday, they blasted Copperheads – Russ 14-2 and rolled by SBA Canes – Red by the final of 10-5. #9 SBA Canes – Erwin were in action on both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. On Saturday, they tied the Carolina Athletics 3-3, and beat Ultimate Performance 12-5. On Sunday, they suffered a 6-4 loss to Carolina Blue Mizuno, but were able to outlast #15 Weddington Warriors 6-2. The Warriors also fell to the Charlotte Nationals on Saturday by the score of 10-9, and to Carolina Blue Mizuno 9-4 on Sunday to finish 1-3 for the weekend. Carolina Blue Mizuno could be a team to watch in the 11u division this spring with two wins over ranked teams early in the season.

#2 Minion got their season started in impressive fashion, going 4-0 this past weekend. They started their weekend with a 9-0 no hitter win over Ultimate Performance and followed that up with a dominating 7-1 win over 11u #1 SBA Canes – Ross, who played up this weekend. Sunday was more of the same as Minion rolled over WCWAA by the score of 12-1 and notched a 16-1 win over OTK Saints. In total, Minion outscored opponents 44-3 this weekend. SBA Canes – Ross finished 2-2 for the weekend playing up in the 12u division, including a 13-2 win over the Lake Norman Hurricanes, a 3-1 win over Athlete’s Warehouse, and an 8-5 loss to SBA Canes – Navy, in addition to their loss to Minion.
