USSSA Jay Criscione Super NIT Preview 9/2018

The USSSA Jay Criscione Super NIT is one of the biggest events of the fall season. 17 teams across 5 age groups will make the trip down to Lexington, South Carolina to face some of the best competition in the Southeast. Hopefully the weather holds off as these games will have significant impact on our first rankings of the fall season. Here we provide a brief preview of the teams in action this weekend.

9u

10 teams will compete in the 9u age group in Lexington this weekend. Two teams from North Carolina - SBA Premier and WNC Braves - will go against one team from Georgia and 7 teams from South Carolina. SBA Premier, who appears to be one of the top 9u teams in North Carolina, will head to the Jay Criscione Super NIT looking to make a big statement. They'll take on Klay Katz (SC) and the Hartsville Hurricanes (SC) in their two pool play games on Saturday. SBA Premier is 8-1 this fall, including 4-0 at the 9u level and 4-1 against 10u competition. The WNC Braves will take on the Lake Murray Bombers (SC) and the Greenville Titans (SC) in their two pool play games on Saturday.

10u

The 10u Majors division will see 10 teams battle it out this weekend. Two NC teams - SBA Premier - Simmons and SBA Premier - Pitts - will will face teams from Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee in their quest for the Super NIT title. SBA Premier - Simmons, who finished 2nd in our final 2017-2018 9u rankings, will take on the Ninth Inning Dodgers (GA) and Rawlings Cobb (GA) in their two pool play games.  SBA Premier - Pitts, who finished 5th in our final 9u rankings last year, will take on Gameday Shockwave (SC) and Line Drive Black (GA) in their two pool play games.

 

11u

15 teams will compete in the 11u Majors division this weekend in Lexington. 3 North Carolina teams - Carolina Havoc, Dirtbags Black, and SBA Premier - will face teams from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee this weekend. SBA Premier, who finished #1 in our final 10u rankings last year, will take on Dirtbags Black, who finished 6th in our final 10u rankings last year, and the East Cobb Astros Orange (GA). Dirtbags Black will also face the East Cobb Astros Orange in their other pool play game. The Carolina Havoc are set to face the Charleston Revolution (SC) and a Carolina Titans (SC) in their two pool play games on Saturday.

12u

In the 12u Majors division, 9 teams will face off, including 4 from North Carolina - Canes Baseball NC - Simpson, Dirtbags Black, Dirtbags Charlotte, and SBA Premier. SBA Premier, who finished #1 in our final 11u rankings last year, will take on Five Star DeMarini Elite (FL) and Outkast (GA) in their two pool play games. Canes - Simpson, who finished 4th in our final 11u rankings last year, will face Dirtbags Black and Talon Baseball (SC) in their two pool play games. Dirtbags Black will also face the Rawlings Stars SC West, who defeated SBA Premier earlier this fall, in their other pool play game. Dirtbags Charlotte will have the same opponents as SBA Premier and is scheduled to take on Five Star DeMarini Elite and Outkast in their two pool play games.

13u

13 teams, including 6 from North Carolina - Canes Charlotte, Carolina Rockies - Wilson, CB Elite, Dirtbags MVP, SBA American, and SBA Premier - make up the 13u Majors division at the Jay Criscione Super NIT this weekend. Dirtbags MVP, previously Minion and who finished #2 in our final 2017-2018 12u rankings, will face SBA American and Cellblock Baseball (GA). SBA American will face CB Elite in their other pool play game. CB Elite will take on Cellblock in their other pool play game on Saturday. Carolina Rockies - Wilson, who finished #5 in our final 12u rankings last year, Team 24 Gamecocks - Brown (SC) and SBA Premier in their two pool play games. SBA Premier is scheduled to face the Carolina Bruins (SC) in their other pool play game. Canes Charlotte will take on Canes Baseball SC and Chain Gang National (SC).
