Triple Crown has a tournament at the East Cobb complex this weekend that several North Carolina teams will be attending. This will be a great opportunity for these teams to test themselves against some of the best teams in the Southeast. Here we provide a brief, North Carolina-focused preview of the weekend’s action in East Cobb.

#5 East Rowan will make the trip down to East Cobb this weekend to go against some of the top 10u teams in the Southeast. They’ve had a good start to their spring, going 3-1 in 10u play (2-2 in 11u play) with wins over #7 Dirtbags Platinum, #10 Carolina Havoc, and #14 Mission Vipers Gold, and their only loss coming against the Havoc. East Rowan will take on the Norcross Blue Devils and the West Forsyth Wolverines in their two pool play games on Saturday. Norcross is 12-5 this spring, but does not appear to have yet faced some of the top competition in their area. It was a bit more difficult to find info about the Wolverines, but as far as we can tell they are 6-1 in Triple Crown play this spring with wins against several teams in the field this weekend including 6-4-3 DP Cougars, 6-4-3 DP Jaguars, and the Smartense Angels, so they should be competitive. The 10u field includes the East Cobb Astros Orange, East Cobb Astros Navy, East Cobb Bandits, and East Cobb Yankees, who are currently ranked 2nd (23rd nationally), 3rd (24th nationally), 4th (56th nationally), and 5th, respectively, in the USSSA’s 10u Majors Georgia state power rankings.

11u #2 SBA Canes – Ross will look to secure the Triple Crown Back to School Backyard Brawl title against a tough 11u field this weekend in Georgia.

#2 SBA Canes – Ross, #15 OTK Saints, and Carolina Blue Mizuno will both be making the trip down for the 11’s. The Canes will take on Home Plate West and the Georgia Jackets in their two pool play games. Home Plate is 9-3 this spring and currently ranked 2nd in the state in USSSA’s 11u AA state power rankings, while the Jackets are 8-6-1. The Saints will go against the Sandy Plains Wildcats and the Sequoyah Junior Chiefs in pool play. The Wildcats are 10-9-1 this spring while the Chiefs are 4-4-1 in USSSA play this spring and currently ranked 3rd in USSSA’s 11u AAA state power rankings. Carolina Blue will take on the Kennesaw Generals and 6-4-3 DP Tigers in their pool play games. The Generals are 4-6 this spring in Grand Slam tournament play while we could only find a PerfectGame tournament result this spring for the Tigers in which they went 0-3.
