58 teams were split across 3 divisions at the 11u Top Gun Winter World Series this past weekend. The D1 division featured 6 of our top 10 and 10 of our top 20 teams, as well as the defending Top Gun Summer World Series champions Virginia Stars - Camp. There were a lot of huge match ups and exciting results. Here we recap the results from the 11u WWS from this past weekend.

20 total teams. 6 of our top 10. 10 of our top 20. #'s 3-7, 10, 12, 15, 16, and 19 all in action. This was the biggest event of the fall thus far in the 11u age group and it did not disappoint. Only the top 16 seeds earned play-in game spots after pool play. #12 East Rowan Mustangs earned the top seed for the play-in games after a 12-2 win over #15 Rock Solid Red and a 12-2 win over #19 Mission Vipers Gold. Rock Solid Red fell 3-2 against Battle Baseball in their other pool play game and earned the #16 seed for the play-in games. #7 Dirtbags Black scored the #2 seed with an 8-2 win over the FV Wildcats and a 7-4 win over Mission Vipers Black. #4 West Raleigh Blue scored the #5 seed with a 9-2 win over the Sandhills Stingrays - Norris and a 10-9 win over the Mid Atlantic Pirates (VA). #3 Dirtbags East went 0-2 in pool play, falling 10-5 against #5 Rawlings Prospects NC on Friday night, and 8-5 against Summer World Series champion Virginia Stars - Camp. Dirtbags East was relegated to the Bronze bracket for bracket play. Rawlings Prospects NC fell 18-6 against the Virginia Stars in their other pool play and earned the #14 seed for the play-in games. #6 Port City Rebels went 1-1 in pool play with an 11-7 win over the Mid Atlantic Pirates and an 11-5 loss against Sandhills Stingrays - Norris and earned the #13 seed for the play-in games. #10 Akadema Heat went 0-2 in pool play with a 3-1 loss against the Carolina Muddawgs and an 8-5 loss against Canes Baseball NoVA - Cheetham (VA) and received the #15 seed for the play-in games. #16 Carolina Thunder went 1-1 in their pool play games with a 7-4 loss against Dirtbags Platinum and a 10-8 win over Mid Atlantic Orioles - Fulton.

In the play-in games, Rock Solid Red scored a 4-3 win over #1 seed East Rowan Mustangs to punch their ticket to the Gold bracket. Dirtbags Black scored a 9-4 win over the Akadema Heat, Rawlings Prospects NC blasted their way to a 21-2 win over Canes - Cheetham, the Virginia Stars notched an 8-0 win over the Port City Rebels, and West Raleigh Blue edged past the Carolina Thunder 7-6 to earn their way into the Gold bracket. Battle Baseball scored an 11-0 win over the Muddawgs, Mission Vipers Black edged past the Sandhills Stingrays 7-5, and Dirtbags Platinum notched a 4-3 win over Mission Vipers Gold to score spots in the Gold bracket. In the Gold bracket quarterfinals, Rock Solid Red notched a 6-1 win over Dirtbags Platinum, the Virginia Stars edged West Raleigh 6-4, the Rawlings Prospects scored an 8-4 win over Battle Baseball, and Dirtbags Black rolled to an 11-5 win over Mission Vipers Black. In the semifinals, Dirtbags Black edged Rawlings 13-12 while the Virginia Stars rolled to an 11-1 win over Rock Solid Red. In the finals, the Virginia Stars defended their SWS crown with a 9-1 win over Dirtbags Black. The Stats completed an extremely impressive run this past weekend. In their 6 wins at the WWS, they topped teams ranked #3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 15 in our North Carolina Rankings and outscored their opponents 62-13 proving they are among the best teams in this region.
