Top Gun Winter World Series Day 1 Results

It was an exciting Day 1 of the Winter World Series. Most of our top teams ended up with wins and put themselves in position for Gold Bracket spots on Sunday. Some of the highlights included 10u # Evoshield Canes NC- Gilchrist taking out 11u #6 Cleveland Wildcats 6-5, 13u #3 East Coast Clippers dominating 13u #9 Dirtbags Black 16-0, and 13u #1 Evoshield Canes NC- Gallaher rolling over 13u #11 Holly Springs Rage Black – Ferreira 15-2. There was only 1 game on Friday in the 9u D1 division. #5 NCDB Rivercats took out #20 Wilson Reds 4-1. In the D2 division, it was the GBI Express over #10 Neuse River Broncos 10-9, #13 Greenville Athletics – Scott over MVP Red 14-4, Rock Solid Red topped the Carolina Thunder 4-3, and #11 Smash Baseball edged out #18 PITT 7-6.

The D1 division had some great games in what we continue to contend is the best overall division at the Winter World Series. #18 NCDB Rivercats used great defense and pitching to overcome #11 NSA 06 Elite 8-0. #19 West Raleigh Blue jumped all over #8 Hitmen Baseball and held on to win 15-8. 10u #1 Evoshield Canes NC – Gilchrist showed they belong, besting #6 Cleveland Wildcats 8-5, and #3 Evoshield Canes NC – Hood got their tournament started right with an 11-4 win over #17 Dynamite Stix.

There were 10 games on Friday in the D2 division. #20 Carolina Pilots won their opener 7-4 over Team Ghost, the SP Vipers took out the Diamond Hawks 10-3, and Greenville Athletics topped Garner Baseball 10-0. In addition, it was South Johnston who edged out FBI Fungo 10-9, the Walk Off Warriors rolled over the Riptide 13-5, the NSA Thunder beat the North Wake Shockwave 13-8, and the Carolina Cubs took out the Carolina Titans 8-4. Finally, The Hope Mills Vipers beat UA Elite 13-9, Rock Solid Red dominated Mid-Atlantic Orioles – Namkoong 10-0, and the Kernersville Bulldogs edged the Mid-Atlantic Orioles – Caraher 7-5.

In the D3 division, it was the Carolina Rage over the Wendell Sharks 4-3, the Perquimans Rivercats over the Carolina Storm 16-3, and 10u #17 Stix over the Carolina Pirates 12-8.

In the 54/80 D1 division, #6 Diamond Thieves edged out the Walk Off Warriors 6-5, and #12 Greenville Athletics – Jones took out CDP – Derick 13-1. In the 54/80 D2 division, GBI Express Black – Gardner bested the Five Star Wildcats 6-5, the RBI Raptors shutout the Carolina Titans 7-0, Rock Solid Red bested the Riptide 7-2, and CDP – Roper beat On Target Baseball 7-6. In the 54/80 D3 division, it was the Carolina Hawks over the South Wake Lightning by the score of 8-5, the Clayont Cyclones topped Greenville Athletics 8-0, the North Wake Bandits beat the Connie Corie Hurricanes 6-0, the Neuse River Broncos edged out the Carolina Titans 8-6, the Raleigh Fury beat the East Coast Bears 4-3, and the Hammerheads started their tournament run with a win over the New Bern Naughty Boys 8-5.

In the 60/90 division, the #3 East Coast Clippers started in dominating fashion, taking out #9 Dirtbags Black 16-0, the #5 NCDB Rivercats beat the Performance Academy – Foster 12-9, #1 Evoshield Canes NC – Gallaher rolled over #11 Holly Springs Rage Black – Ferreira 15-2, Rise Hauser bested the NBA Nationals, #2 Evoshield Canes NC – Haire took out the Seminoles 13-2, and Mid Atlantic Pirates dominated the Mid-Atlantic Orioles – Tatro 15-1. In total, our top 13u all held serve on Friday and are still on track for Gold Bracket spots heading into Saturday.

In the 60/90 D2 division, Rawlings Prospects NC took out Purpose Driven Baseball 9-6, the Carolina Rage bested #14 Carolina Naturals 6-3, the Virginia Black Sox dominated the Huguenot Huskies 10-0, and the Mid-Atlantic Orioles – Youngman won over the South Wake Storm Red 6-0.
