This will be a huge weekend of baseball as the fall season kicks in to high gear. The Triangle Region Top Gun site will have 95 teams in action, including 78 in the 9u, 11u, 12u, and 13u age groups. Some of the best teams in the state from this past spring including 2017-2018 12u #1 Canes Baseball - Eastern NC (previously Legends Baseball). Here's a brief rundown of some of the weekend's best games and potential match ups.
9u
Dirtbags Black, who finished #2 in our 8u rankings this past year, headline the 9u field at the Triangle Region site this weekend. They'll face East Coast Elite and Carolina Thunder Gold in their two pool play games. East Coast Elite will be another team to watch this weekend, and they'll face the Garner Generals in their other pool play game.

West Raleigh Blue (2017-2018 final 10u ranking: #4), Rock Solid Red (2017-2018 final 10u ranking: #11), and the Wendell Knights ((2017-2018 final 10u ranking: #13) are three of the highest ranked teams from this past year who are in the 11u field this weekend. In the 6-team D1 division, West Raleigh will take on DPC Baseball Gold and Rock Solid Red in pool play, while Rock Solid will face the Rawlings Prospects in their other pool play game. Rawlings Prospects will also take on DPC Gold in their other pool play game. In the 4-team D2 division, the Wendell Knights will face the Carolina Outlaws and Area Stars - Stanton in their two pool play games. The Cleveland Wildcats, who will face the Carolina Outlaws and the Area Stars - Stanton in their pool play games, should be another contender in the D2 division this weekend as well.

There will be a 5-team D1 division this weekend in the Triangle Region Top Gun event. Rock Solid Red, who finished the 2017-2018 seasons ranked #18 in the final 11u rankings, will take on Canes Baseball VA - Serrano and the Carolina Rage in their two pool play games. The Canes will face the Riptide and the Rage will take on NSA 06 Elite in their other pool play game. NSA 06 and the Riptide will also play against one another on Saturday. In the 11-team 12u Open division several previously ranked teams will be in action. Team Ghost will take on the Cleveland Wildcats and South Johnston in their two pool play games, while NCABC FUNGO - Waltman will face the Wendell Sharks and Greensboro Nationals. The Durham Blues will take on Hit and Run Select - Fuquay Farina and the Hill City Sliders (VA) in their two pool play games.

54/80
The D1 54/80 division will be a 5-team division competing in a 4-game, round-robin format. The field consists of the Sanford Cobras, who finished 10th in our final 12u 2017-2018 rankings, Carolina Titans - Wilson, who finished 16th in the 2017-2018 final 12u rankings, the East Coast Clippers, the Sandhills Stingrays - Hofstetler, and the NCDB Rivercats - B. The D2 54/80 division should be exciting all weekend with several teams having the chance to make a statement. Deep River Elite will take on the Carolina Voodoo and the Fuquay Bengals in pool play, while the Voodoo will take on the Riptide in their other pool play game.

Like the 54/80 division, the D1 60/90 division consists of 5 teams who will compete in a 4-game, round-robin format tournament. Canes Baseball - Eastern NC is the headliner in this division, but they will have a tough run through the tournament. They will against the NCDB Rivercats, who finished #13 in our final 12u 2017-2018 rankings, Dirtbags Black Raleigh, Rawlings Prospects 2024, and TPA Nationals - Christman, who are made up largely from players from last year's #15 team in our final 12u rankings, West Raleigh Blue.
