The Garner Royals rising 11u travel baseball team will be holding open tryouts for the fall season. The tryouts will be held on Tuesday, July 9th from 6:30-8:00 pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
The Royals are a winning program with many past success in Top Gun and NCGameOn Sports tournaments. The team recently finished as runner-up in the Gold bracket of the Top Gun Summer World Series D2 Gold Bracket, a tournament that included 15 teams from Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia. The Royals are committed to having fun, teaching the game of baseball, and competing at the highest level.
- The 11u team will be head coached by Derik Goffena, current Varsity baseball coach at Garner Magnet High School. Assistant coaches will include Todd Pruden, Timmy Eubanks, and Louie Martinez
- Most of the tournaments will be played within 50 miles of Wake County
- Practice field location is primarily Pleasant Grove Baptist Church (10005 Lake Wheeler Rd. Fuquay-Varina, NC)
- Practices will be held 2-3 times per week depending on tournament schedule (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday)
- Players cannot turn 12 prior to May 1, 2020
- Practices will start in August and the season will run through the 2nd week of 2nd week of November
- Estimated cost per player is $400, which includes uniforms, practice fields, and tournament entry fees
- Plan to enter 5-7 tournaments (20-28 games total, weather permitting)
- Players will be given the opportunity to play many different positions during practices and games and will learn instruction from a highly qualified staff
