The 13u Championship was a great 4-team field featuring #4 East Coast Clippers, #8 NCDB Rivercats, and #10 Dirtbags – Smith, as well as Dirtbags – Yates. There was some exciting games and all around excellent competition. In the end, NCDB was able to outlast the field to take home the title. Here’s a brief recap of the weekend’s games.
On Saturday, the NCDB Rivercats topped the East Clippers 13-8, but fell to Dirtbags – Smith 4-2. Dirtbags – Smith also scored a 20-0 win over Dirtbags – Yates on Saturday. The East Coast Clippers notched a 20-4 win over Dirtbags – Yates in their other game on Saturday. On Sunday, NCDB was able to muscle past Dirtbags – Yates 12-1 while the East Coast Clippers scored an 8-1 win over Dirtbags – Smith. That left Dirtbags – Smith, the East Coast Clippers, and the Rivercats all 2-1 in pool play. Due to runs against (DB – Smith: 10, EC Clippers: 18, NCDB: 13), the NCDB Rivercats and Dirtbags – Smith moved on to the finals. In the finals, the Rivercats were able to blow open a tight game late, scoring 6 runs in the 5th and 6th innings to score a 14-3 win and take home the Impact Baseball 13u Spring Championship title.
