AAU Recap 6/2-6/3/18

The AAU sites had some excellent baseball ongoing this weekend at three sites. The fields were highlighted by upset wins over top 20 teams in Oxford and an excellent showing by the 9u HYAA Hawks. Here we recap the weekend’s games.

 

Ayden one-day

10u

The Wayne County Ripeprz, Carteret County Patriots, and Wayne County Arsenal – Stars all went 1-1 on Sunday with the Ripperz scoring a 9-7 win over the Arsenal – Stars, the Patriots getting a 16-7 win over the Ripperz, and the Arsenal – Stars notching a 13-2 win over the Patriots.

 

Clemmons one-day

Ashe Aces 2026 went 2-0 in pool play with an 11-10 win over Luckies – Taylor and a 13-12 win over the Colts. They were met in the final by the Lake Norman Dingers who scored a 19-1 win over teh Colts in addition to an 11-10 loss to Big Cats Baseball. In the finals, the Dingers were able to score an 8-2 win over the Ashe Aces 2026.

Dirtbags Camo went 2-0 in pool play with a 9-3 win over Hutters and a 16-1 win over the Surry BlueClaws. Hutters also topped the BlueClaws in pool play by the score of 11-6. In the finals, Dirtbags Camo scored an 11-0 win over Hutters to finish 3-0 for the day.

There were 2 divisions of games in the 12u age group this weekend in Clemmons. In the first division, the Davidson County All Stars went 2-0 with a 5-2 win over the SW Colts and a 4-3 win over the Carolina Torque. The Torque topped the Ashe Aces 9-4 in their other pool play to reach the finals. In the finals, the Torque scored a 9-7 win over the Davidson County All Stars. In the second division, the BlueClaws scored a 10-0 win over Select Gold and a 9-5 win over Spartans – Keaton to reach the finals. Select Gold scored a 3-0 win over the SBA Canes in their other pool play game to also make the finals. In the finals, the BlueClaws muscled out a 14-8 win over Select Gold.

The Carolina Hitmen went 2-0 in pool play with an 8-6 win over 4G3 and an 8-6 win over the Carolina Blaze. The Blaze notched a 15-0 win over Spartans Baseball in their other pool play game and qualified for the finals. In the finals, the Hitmen used excellent pitching an defense to put together a 2-0 win over the Blaze.

 

Oxford

The Granville Rays defeated the NCDB Rivercats and 25-15 and the HYAA Hawks 21-7 on Saturday. The Rivercats topped the Hawks 14-5 on Saturday in their other game of the day. On Sunday, Granville again went 2-0 with an 8-4 win over the Rivercats and a 15-6 win over the Hawks. The Rivercats again defeated the Hawks, this time by the score of 15-7, to finish 2-2 for the weekend.

#5 Carolina Titans went 1-0 on Saturday with a 8-0 win over the HYAA Hawks. D1 Performance went 2-0 on Saturday with a 13-11 win over the Carolina Tide and a 13-5 win over the Raleigh Rogue. The Carolina Flash also topped the tide on Saturday with 14-4 win. On Sunday, the Hawks topped the Raleigh Rogue 11-7 and the Tide beat the Flash 8-5 in the play-in games. In the semifinals, the Hawks topped D1 Performance 9-2 and the Titans blanked the Tide 14-0. In the finals, the Hawks pulled off a 7-6 win over the Titans to take the 9u title.

#15 Carolina Thunder went 1-0 on Saturday with a 13-8 win over the Carolina Tide. Their second pool play game was rained out. Previously ranked Wendell Knights went 1-0 on Saturday with a 15-0 win over the North Wake Cardinals. The North Wake Elite went 2-0 on Saturday with a 9-1 win over the Fuquay Titans and a 10-9 win over the Carolina Outlaws. In bracket play, the Wendell Knights beat the Thunder 3-1 while the North Wake Elite topped the Carolina Tide 10-0. In the finals, North Wake edged out the Knights 4-3 to win the 10u championship.

The Roxboro Crusaders went 2-0 on Saturday with a 14-1 win over the Carolina Outlaws and a 4-3 win over the North Wake Shockwave. Carolina Titans Blue went 1-0 with a 5-1 win over the Shockwave. Purpose Driven North also went 2-0 on Saturday with a 12-1 win over the Yellow Jackets and a 7-2 win over Dirtbags East Chatham. The Orange County Crushers were also 2-0 with an 11-4 win over the Yellow Jackets and a 20-0 win over Dirtbags East Chatham. In the play-in game, Titans Blue topped the Outlaws 14-4. In the semifinals, Titans Blue blanked Purpose Driven 8-0 while the Crusaders scored an 8-3 win over the Crushers. In the finals, the Carolina Titans Blue finished an undefeated weekend with a 12-3 win over the Roxboro Crusaders.

The Phoenix Elite went 2-0 on Saturday with a 9-3 win over D1 Performance – Horner and a 20-3 win over Dirtbags Black 11u. The Carolina Voodoo also went 2-0 in pool play with a 9-0 win over D1 and an 18-0 win over the Cary Wildcats. On Sunday, Dirtbags Black 11u topped D1 Performance 16-6 in the play-in game. In the semifinals, Phoenix Elite topped the Cary Wildcats 16-4 while the Voodoo scored a 9-5 win over Dirtbags Black. In the finals, Phoenix Elite notched an 11-3 win over the Voodoo.

The North Wake Thunder went 2-0 on Saturday with a 9-7 win over the Youngsville Intimidators and an 11-0 win over the Phoenix Elite. The Intimidators topped the Phoenix Elite 9-2 in their other pool play game. In the play-in games, the Granville Crushers topped the Heavy Hitters 9-1 and the Rox City Bombers scored an 8-5 win over the Phoenix Elite. In the semifinals, the Intimidators edged out the Bombers 8-7 while the Thunder rolled to an 11-1 win over the Granville Crushers. In the finals, the Thunder again were able to defeat the Intimidators, this time by the score of 9-6.
