It was a tight battle for the top spot in the 10u age group, with the results of a single extra inning game separating the top two teams. Right behind the top two teams were several other strong performing teams in this highly competitive age group. We saw a lot of matchups between ranked teams this fall and this will be an exciting age group to follow in 2020. Here we recap the fall season in the 10u age group.
- SBA Futures
The SBA Futures posted an unblemished 12-0 record this fall, and finished as one of the few undefeated teams around North Carolina in any age group. This included wins over #2 Dirtbags Black, #4 LBC Swarm, #5 NCABC Fungo - Piscorik, #9 Summerfield Stars, and #17 NCDB Rivercats. This included a title at the USSSA Jay Criscione Super NIT as well as the Top Gun Winter World Series. The Futures ended their fall season with an impressive extra-innings 11-6 win over #2 Dirtbags Black to secure their spot at #1 in this age group. - Dirtbags Black
Dirtbags Black finished an outstanding 17-2 record this fall season. They had an outstanding 9 wins against ranked teams including a win over #4 LBC Swarm, #5 NCABC Fungo - Piscorik (x3), #6 Canes Baseball NC - Harris, #7 HPT HiToms, and #17 NCDB Rivercats (x3). Their only two losses came against #1 SBA Futures and the Next Level Prospects who are currently ranked #3 in USSSA's 10u Majors Georgia State Rankings. The only thing separating the Dirtbags and SBA Futures at this time appears to be that head-to-head game. - Triple Crown Lookouts
The Lookouts had one of the more impressive fall campaigns of any team in any age group. Unfortunately for them, so did the two teams who finished above them in our rankings. They finished 24-2 overall this fall had 3 wins over top 10 teams (#4 LBC Swarm, #6 Canes Baseball NC - Harris, and #7 HPT HiToms) as well as 4 other wins over ranked teams (#11 West Raleigh Blue, #13 Kings Mountain Storm, and #15 East Rowan [x2]). In addition, both of their losses came against top 5 teams (LBC Swarm and #5 NCABC Fungo - Piscorik). - LBC Swarm
Right behind the Lookouts were the LBC Swarm, who finished an outstanding 24-3-1 this fall. They had 4 wins over top 20 teams including wins over #3 Triple Crown Lookouts, #5 NCABC Fungo - Piscorik, and #15 East Rowan. In addition, their 3 losses came against the top 3 teams in this age group, #1 SBA Futures, #2 Dirtbags Black, and the #3 Triple Crown Lookouts. - NCABC Fungo - Piscorik
Fungo played a total of 39 games this fall, going 26-12-1 overall. They had 6 total wins over ranked teams including wins over #3 Triple Crown Lookouts, #6 Canes Baseball NC - Harris, #11 West Raleigh Blue, and #17 NCDB Rivercats (x3). Of their 12 losses, 9 came against ranked teams including losses to #1 SBA Futures, #2 Dirtbags Black (x3), #4 LBC Swarm, Canes Baseball NC - Harris, #7 HPT HiToms, #14 Dirt Devils, and the NCDB Rivercats.
- Canes Baseball NC - Harris
The Canes continue to be one of the top teams in this age group, and this fall was no different as the Canes finished 16-5 overall. The Canes had 4 wins over ranked teams including a win over #5 NCABC Fungo - Piscorik, two wins over #17 NCDB Rivercats, and a win over #20 Dirtbags East. All of their 5 losses came against ranked teams, including losses to #2 Dirtbags Black, #3 Triple Crown Lookouts, Fungo - Piscorik, and #16 Carolina Titans - Ambrose (x2). - HPT HiToms
The HiToms had another excellent season this fall, going 15-7 overall. They notched 5 wins over ranked opponents including a win over #5 NCABC Fungo - Piscorik, two wins over #9 Summerfield Stars, a win over #10 Carolina Rockies - Sullivan, and a win over #15 East Rowan. In addition, of their 7 losses, 6 came against ranked teams including losses to #2 Dirtbags Black, #3 Triple Crown Lookouts, Summerfield Stars (x2), Rockies - Sullivan, and #11 West Raleigh Blue. - Five Star Carolina - Young
The boys from Five Star finished an impressive 12-1 this fall. They generally dominated competition throughout the fall, outscoring their opponents a combined 136-35 across their 13 games. The only thing that kept Five Star from moving up the rankings was a lack of games against the top competition. For the season they posted one win over a ranked team, scoring an 11-3 win over #9 Summerfield Stars. Their only loss came in their first game of the season against #12 Roberson RAMblers. - Summerfield Stars
The Stars finished with an overall record of 12-7 this fall. They had 3 wins over ranked teams including two over #7 HPT HiToms as well as a win over #11 West Raleigh Blue. 4 of their 7 losses came against ranked opponents as well including losses to the HiToms (x2), #8 Five Star Carolina - Young, and West Raleigh Blue. - Carolina Rockies - Sullivan
The Rockies finished with an outstanding 21-6 overall record this fall. Similar to Five Star - Young, what kept the Rockies from moving higher up in our rankings was a lack of games against the top competition. For the fall they went 1-1 against other ranked teams, with both games coming against #7 HPT HiToms.
- West Raleigh Blue
West Raleigh Blue finished with an 8-4 overall record this fall. They highlighted their fall season with wins over #7 HPT HiToms and #9 Summerfield Stars. They also had losses against 2 ranked opponents in #3 Triple Crown Lookouts and the Summerfield Stars. - Roberson RAMblers
The RAMblers finished the fall season with a record of 16-8. They had three wins over ranked teams including a win over #8 Five Star Carolina - Young, #13 Kings Mountain Storm, and #18 Cherryville Sluggers. Of their losses, two came against 11u teams an another came against our #5 team in South Carolina, the G-town Pirates. - Kings Mountain Storm
The Storm finished off the fall with an overall record 14-4. They had a win over #18 Cherryville Sluggers to highlight their fall. Of their 4 losses, two came against ranked teams including #3 Triple Crown Lookouts and #12 Roberson RAMblers. - Dirt Devils
The Dirt Devils went 15-5 overall this fall. Among their 15 wins, the Dirt Devils notched victories over #5 NCABC Fungo - Piscorik and #20 Dirtbags East (x2). They also two losses against ranked teams (#17 NCDB Rivercats and Dirtbags East) as well as one loss against an 11u team. - East Rowan
East Rowan was an extremely difficult team for us to feel we could accurately rank. They played a very high level of competition, but posted a 4-7 record in USSSA play this fall. 5 of their losses came against ranked teams in North Carolina including two 1-run losses to #4 LBC Swarm as well as losses against #3 Triple Crown Lookouts (x2) and #7 HPT HiToms. In addition, they had a loss against our #10 team in South Carolina, SC Chaos Elite. With that said, admittedly some of their ranking is due to their past performance. As we head into the spring and summer, East Rowan will have to produce some wins against other ranked competition to stay in our top 20.
- Carolina Titans - Ambrose
The Titans finished with an overall record of 16-10 this fall. They had 4 wins over ranked teams including two wins over #6 Canes Baseball NC - Harris, #17 NCDB Rivercats, and #20 Dirtbags East. They also had 7 losses against top 20 competition including losses to #5 NCABC Fungo - Piscorik, Canes - Harris (x2), #14 Dirt Devils (x2), the NCDB Rivercats, and Dirtbags East (x2). - NCDB Rivercats
The Rivercats finished with an overall record of 12-10 this fall against a highly competitive schedule. In total, the Rivercats played 12 games against ranked competition. They scored wins over #5 NCABC Fungo - Piscorik, #14 Dirt Devils, and #16 Carolina Titans - Ambrose. 9 of their 10 losses came against ranked teams including losses to #1 SBA Futures, #2 Dirtbags Black (x3), Fungo - Piscorik (x2), #6 Canes Baseball NC - Harris (x2), and #16 Carolina Titans - Ambrose. Their only other loss of the fall came in a 1-run loss against Virginia Stars - Nardone, one of the best teams from Virginia who finished 23-3 this fall. - Cherryville Baseball
Cherryville finished with an impressive 18-6 overall record this fall. They highlighted their fall with a win over Team 24 Gamecocks - Clayton, who are our #2 team in South Carolina. In addition, two of their 6 losses came against ranked competition (#12 Roberson RAMblers and #13 Kings Mountain Storm). - Coastal Cyclones
The Cyclones finished off the fall with an excellent overall record of 13-2. Although they did not defeat any ranked opponents this fall, they did have wins over an excellent Wilmington Wolfpack teams as well as 11u Fungo Red Sox. - Dirtbags East
The Dirtbags finished the fall with a 14-6 record, highlighted by a title at the D2 Top Gun Winter World Series. They had 3 wins over ranked teams this fall, including wins over #14 Dirt Devils and #16 Carolina Titans - Ambrose (x2). In addition, 4 of their losses came against ranked teams including losses to #6 Canes Baseball NC - Harris, Dirt Devils (x2), and Titans - Ambrose.
