Schedules are posted and the first weekend of travel baseball in North Carolina is soon to be underway. If you or your team has never participated in an Umpire Training event, these games are generally approached in one of two ways: 1) as a scrimmage or 2) as a regular game. While this might produce some interesting or unexpected results, they are a great way for teams to get in some game situation work in a low stress environment, early in the season, on an actual baseball field. Here we highlight some of the top teams in action this weekend.
The second week of the Top Gun Winter World Series (WWS) will take place this weekend in the Rocky Mount area. 10u and 12u teams (as well as 14u and 16u) will be in action and some of the very best teams in both age groups are scheduled to play. 28 top 10 ten and 37 top 20 teams will head to Charlotte this weekend to take on some of the best teams in the Southeast at the USSSA Fall Beast of the East (BoE) in what is annually one of the best tournaments of the fall season. The #1 teams in our 9u (Dirtbags Black), 10u (Park Sharon Nationals), 11u (SBA Premier), and 12u (Canes Baseball NC – Hood) will be in action in their respective age groups. In addition, in what is without a doubt the best 12u field of the season, everyone of our top 10 teams and 11 of our top 12 teams will all be take the field this weekend. This looks to be a great weekend in Charlotte, so hopefully the rain holds off. Here we highlight some of the big games this weekend and even try and make some predictions about potential champions (for fun).

The USSSA Jay Criscione Super NIT is one of the biggest events of the fall season. 17 teams across 5 age groups will make the trip down to Lexington, South Carolina to face some of the best competition in the Southeast. Hopefully the weather holds off as these games will have significant impact on our first rankings of the fall season. Here we provide a brief preview of the teams in action this weekend.
Perfect Game has a lights-out event in store for this weekend in Greensboro. With 4 of the top 20 10u teams from this past spring competing in the 11u age group, and 5 of the top 10 teams in the final 2017-2018 11u rankings (and the #2 1ou team from this past spring) competing in the 12u age groups, we should see some exciting baseball. The 11u age group will also have a team from South Carolina (PRO Select) and a team from Virginia (Canes Baseball NC – Cheetham) in the field. Here we provide a brief preview of the weekend’s games.

Split over two weekends, the Top Gun Summer World Series attracts over 300 teams from 5 states including North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia. In the first weekend, the 8u, 9u, 11u, and 13u (and 15u) age groups will be in action. Dozens of our top 20 teams in all the age groups will be in action this weekend.
