There was no bigger game this weekend in North Carolina than 12u #1 SBA Futures taking on our 12u national #1 TX/FL Canes Elite. The game lived up to the hype and then some. And while this was the headline match up of the weekend, there was still a lot of good baseball across the USSSA landscape this weekend. Here we recap the USSSA action from this past weekend.
The Perfect Game Coastal Select Championship took place this past weekend in Charlotte. This event saw some of the best matchups in the state in the early spring season. The 11u field was absolutely loaded and we got to see some outstanding top 10 and top 5 match ups already. Here we recap the weekend of games at this PG Charlotte event.
It was an exciting weekend of games, with some of the most beautiful weather of the fall season. The fields were some of the most competitive of the fall season, and teams were ready to stake claims as some of the best teams in North Carolina. Loaded fields, tight games, and popped chains. Several of the best teams in the country, including two national #1’s, made their way to Lexington, South Carolina this past weekend for the USSSA Jay Criscione Super NIT. There were some incredible match ups, big upsets, and dominating performances. A few teams including the 11u and 12u SBA Futures, and 13u Canes Baseball SC – Staats made big statements about who might be some of the very best teams in the country this year. Here we recap a great Super NIT event from this past weekend.
The 12u age group saw a match up of two of the best teams in the Southeast United States in the finals with Canes Baseball NC – Pirro going up against the SBA Nationals. There were several other outstanding games this weekend across the four USSSA sites. Here we briefly recap the weekend of games at the USSSA sites around North Carolina.
The 13u age group was another very difficult age group to sort out at the top with as many as 4-5 teams making a reasonable case for the top spot. 6 teams from North Carolina ended up in Perfect Game’s 13u national rankings or honorable mention list, which is a testament to just how strong this age group is in North Carolina. We chose Mission as our top team this past year because of their number of results against top competition and the consistency of their performance. They posted wins over teams ranked #2, 3, 4, 5 ,7, 8, and 9 in our North Carolina rankings, the only team with wins over that many teams in our top 10. Here we recap the 13u age group from 2019-2020.
The first big event of the fall season took placed this past weekend with the Perfect Game Coastal Fall Elite Championship. Team from 10u-12u competed, with some of the very best teams in North Carolina in action. We witnessed some great competition including one of the most anticipated match ups in a long time with 12u Canes Baseball NC – Pirro and the SBA Futures going at it. It turned out to be a great weekend for Showcase Baseball Academy, with their teams taking titles at 10u, 11u, and 12u. Here we recap the PG Coastal Fall Elite Championship from this past weekend.
The 12u age group was an extremely competitive age group at the top with 4 teams ranked in the top 26 of Perfect Game’s national 12u rankings, and 5 total teams in the top 100. Led by national #7, Rawlings Prospects NC, Dirtbags Black (#13), SBA Futures (#23), Canes Baseball NC – Foster (#26), and the NCDB Rivercats (#93) all made an appearance in PG’s national rankings. Although we had the teams in a slightly different order, there was no doubt the Rawlings Prospects were the top dog in this age group this past year. Here we recap an extremely competitive 12u age group in North Carolina.
No age group was more difficult to separate at the top than the 11u age group. 3 teams – the SBA Nationals, Park Sharon Nationals – Pirro, and the SBA Futures – separated themselves from the rest of the age group and battled it for the top spot all spring and summer. In the end, we chose the SBA Nationals as our #1 team after they posted winning record against both our #2 and #3 teams. There were also a number of outstanding seasons by other teams, and here we recap one of the most competitive age groups in North Carolina this year.
