Greensboro and Wilmington saw a handful of teams in action this past weekend. The 11u Port City Rebels, who finished 3rd in our 10u rankings this past year, had their first games of the season and we saw numerous GRIT teams in action in Greensboro. Here we recap the USSSA games in Greensboro and Wilmington this past weekend.

GRIT went 2-0 in pool play with a 20-12 win over GBC Prospects and a 15-5 win over the SML Sandlot. Rogue went 0-1-1 with a 17-17 tie against the GBC Prospects and a 25-17 loss against SML Sandlot. In the semifinals, the Prospects topped SML Sandlot 16-7 and GRIT scored a 14-4 win over Rogue. In the finals, GRIT notched a 20-6 win to finish 4-0 for the weekend.

Luckies Gold went 2-0 in pool play with a 16-9 win over the Summerfield Stars, who finished #12 in our final 2017-2018 8u rankings, and a 16-6 win over the Carolina Curve. GRIT finished 1-0-1 with an 11-10 win over the Stars and a 7-7 tie against the Curve. In the bracket play semifinals, GRIT topped the Curve 12-2 while the Stars notched a 7-1 win over Luckies Gold. In the finals, the Stars blasted their way to a 16-3 win over GRIT.

Dirtbags Platinum (VA) went 2-0 in pool play with a 17-1 win over East Rowan and a 9-8 win over the Summerfield Stars. The GBC Prospects also went 2-0 with an 11-2 win over the Kernersville Cyclones and a 15-6 win over Five Star Carolina - Hilton. Five Star finished 0-2 in pool play with a 10-2 loss against the Cyclones in addition to their loss against the Prospects. In the play-in games on Sunday, the Cyclones scored a 6-1 win over the NC Young Guns, the Stars blanked East Rowan 8-0, and Five Star Carolina notched a 12-4 win over the GBC Prospects. In the semifinals, Dirtbags Platinum (VA) scored an 8-7 win over the Kernersville Cyclones and the Summerfield Stars topped Five Star Carolina - Hilton 9-5. In the finals, the Summerfield Stars scored a 7-4 win over Dirtbags Platinum (VA) to take home the 10u title.

Proehlific Power went 2-0 in pool play with an 11-3 win over GRIT - Patton and an 8-0 win over GRIT. GBC Prospects - Breedlove also went 2-0 in pool play with an 18-0 win over GRIT - Patton and an 11-8 win over GRIT. In the semifinals on Sunday, GRIT scored a 14-6 win over GBC Prospects - Breedlove and Proehlific Power notched an 11-3 win over GRIT - Patton. In the finals, Proehlific Power edged past GRIT with a 7-6 win.

The Piedmont Patriots went 2-0 in pool play on Saturday with a 9-0 win over the Triad Titans and a 22-2 win over Chico's Bail Bonds. The Virginia Militia also went 2-0 in pool play with an 8-0 win over the Carolina Muddogs and a 12-4 win over Power Baseball. GRIT also went 2-0 in pool play with a 14-10 win over Power Baseball and a 12-4 win over the Muddogs. In the bracket play play-in games, the Triad Titans topped Chico's 17-8, GRIT scored an 11-3 win over the Carolina Muddogs, and the Virginia Militia blanked Power Baseball 11-0. In the semifinals, the Piedmont Patriots scored a 13-2 win over the Triad Titans and the Virginia Militia notched a 10-7 win over GRIT. In the finals, the Militia finished off a 5-0 weekend with a 10-2 win over the Piedmont Patriots.

The South Rowan Hammerheads went 2-0 in pool play with an 8-7 win over Proehlific Power and a 17-2 win over Select. The GBC Prospects went 0-2 in pool play with a 5-4 loss against Proehlific Power and a 6-5 loss against select. In the semifinals on Sunday, Select edged past Proehlific Power 9-8 and the South Rowan Hammerheads notched a 5-3 win over the GBC Prospects. In the finals, the South Rowan Hammerheads scored a 9-8 win over Select to complete a 4-0 weekend.
Of note, the 13u Five Star Tigers (previously Five Star Carolina - Shelton), who finished #7 in our final 2017-2018 12u rankings, played up in the 14u age group this past weekend. They went 1-1 in pool play with an 11-3 win over Rural Hall Express and an 11-1 loss against the Pilot Mountain Dirtbags. In bracket play, they won their play-in game 12-0 against the GBC Prospects. They scored a 5-3 win over the Pilot Mountain Dirtbags in the semifinals and a 14-5 win over Rural Hall Express in the finals.

The LL Coastal Cyclones went 2-0 in pool play with a 10-6 over the Ogden Hurricanes and a 17-9 win over NSA. The Riegelwood Lumberjacks went 1-1 in pool play with a 16-7 loss against the Hurricanes and a 15-3 win over NSA. In the semifinals, the Coastal Cyclones scored an 8-7 win over NSA and the Hurricanes edged the Lumberjacks 11-10. In the finals, the Ogden Hurricanes notched a 14-6 win over the LL Coastal Cyclones.

NSA Select went 2-0 in pool play with a 14-8 win over the Wilmington Wolfpack and a 12-4 win over the Wilmington Whitecaps. The Coastal Cyclones went 1-1 in pool play with a 16-3 win over the Wilmington Wolfpack and an 8-7 loss against the CB Wolfpack. In the bracket play play-in game, the CB Wolfpack scored an 8-5 win over the Wilmington Wolfpack. In the semifinals, the Coastal Cyclones notched a 6-2 win over the Wilmington Whitecaps and the CB Wolfpack edged past NSA Select 7-6. In the semifinals, the Coastal Cyclones rolled to a 16-1 win over the CB Wolfpack.
