Triple Crown Border Wars 11u-13u Recap May 2019

76 teams competed in the 11u-13u age groups at the Triple Crown Border Wars, including 34 teams ranked in North Carolina and Virginia. The #1 ranked North Carolina teams in all 3 of these age groups were in action, including two who brought home titles. Take a look at our recap of an exciting weekend of games in Rocky Mount.

11u

4 ranked teams from North Carolina and 4 ranked teams from Virginia headlined the 21-team 11u field this past weekend in Rocky Mount. In pool A< NC #7 Rawlings Prospects NC went 2-0 on Saturday, rolling to a 13-2 win over the Virginia Swamp Things and a 12-1 win over the Peninsula CoPilots (VA). The CoPilots rolled to a 9-1 win over the Carolina Patriots in their other pool play game, which was enough to secure themselves a spot in the Gold bracket. VA #3 Invaders Baseball also went 2-0 in pool A, scoring a 12-1 win over the Virginia Swamp Things and a 10-8 win over the Carolina Patriots. In pool B, NC #6 Dirtbags East went 2-0 with a 13-3 win over the Akadema Heat and a 12-4 win over the Virginia Venom. NC #11 NCDB Rivercats also went 2-0 in pool play, scoring a 7-3 win over the Coastal Closers (VA) and a 6-3 win over the Virginia Venom.

In pool C, Canes 757 - Chalk (VA) went 2-0 with a 12-5 win over Rumble Baseball and an 11-2 win over VA #8 Team Vinci. Rock Solid Red also went 2-0 in pool C, rolling to a 13-3 win over VA #9 Stafford Warriors and a 7-6 win over Team Vinci. In pool D, NC #1 Canes Baseball NC - Foster went 2-0, dominating their way to a 12-0 win over the Rocky Mount Marshals, and a 27-0 win over the Mid Atlantic Pirates (VA). The Marshals topped Dirtbags 757 16-2 in their other pool play game, which was enough to earn the Marshals a spot in the Gold bracket. VA #2 VA Seminoles - Fletcher went 2-0 as well on Saturday scoring an 11-2 win over the Mid Atlantic Pirates and a 15-3 win over Ironbridge Baseball - Jones.

12 teams made the Gold bracket, with the top 4 seeds each receiving byes into the quarterfinals. In the play-in games, #8 seed NCDB Rivercats scored a 10-4 win over the Peninsula CoPilots, #12 seed Stafford Warriors topped #5 seed Canes 757 - Chalk, #6 seed Invaders Baseball blanked Ironbridge Baseball - Jones 15-0, and #7 seed Rock Solid Red topped #10 seed Rocky Mount Marshals 12-2. In the quarterfinals, Canes Baseball NC - Foster rolled to a 15-0 win over the NCDB Rivercats, Dirtbags East topped the Stafford Warriors 11-3, Invaders Baseball scored a 6-1 win over VA Seminoles - Fletcher, and Rawlings Prospects NC blanked Rock Solid Red 9-0. In the semifinals, Canes - Foster got their second shut out of the day with an 8-0 win over Dirtbags East and the Invaders edged past Rawlings Prospects NC 8-6. In the finals, Canes Baseball NC - Foster finished off an impressive weekend with a 14-2 win over Invaders Baseball. Over the course of the weekend, the Canes outscored 5 opponents a combined 76-2 with 4 shut outs in 5 games.

31 teams, including 15 ranked teams (8 from North Carolina, 7 from Virginia), were divided into 10 pools in the 12u age group in Rocky Mount this past weekend. In pool A, VA #4 Canes 757 - Campbell went 2-0 with a 5-3 win over NC #8 Kernersville Bulldogs and a 10-9 win over VA #5 Dirty South Venom. Dirty South Venom topped the Kernersville Bulldogs 10-6 in the other pool play game in pool A. In pool B, NC #9 NCDB Rivercats went 2-0 with an 11-6 win over Mid Atlantic Orioles - Caraher (VA) and a 12-0 win over Invaders Baseball (VA). The Invaders fell 7-5 against the Orioles in the other game in pool B. In pool C, the Olney Pirates (MD) went 2-0 with a 14-10 win over NC #17 Carolina Rage and a 15-0 win over Mid-Atlantic Orioles - Namkoong (VA). The Carolina Rage scored an 11-1 win over Orioles - Namkoong in the final game in pool C. In pool D, VA #2 Western Tidewater Rage went 2-0 with a 9-6 win over VA #7 TailorMade Mizuno and a 9-8 win over the RBA South Chiefs. TailorMade scored a 6-5 win over RBA in the other game in pool D. In pool E, VA #10 RISE Red went 2-0 with a 7-4 win over NC #14 Carolina Titans Blue and a 20-0 win over GN Academy (VA). The Titans rolled to a 21-0 win over GN Academy in their other pool play game on Saturday.

In pool F, NC #5 Canes Baseball NC - Hood went 2-0 with a 15-2 win over RISE White (VA) and a 15-1 win over the Virginia Invasion. The Invasion scored a 6-4 win over RISE White in the other game in pool F. In pool G, NC #12 Dirtbags East went 2-0 scoring a 9-4 win over VA Seminoles - McQueen and a 10-2 win over NC #1 Canes Baseball NC - Simpson. The Canes rolled to a 15-0 win over the Seminoles in the other game in pool G. In pool H, VA #6 Huguenot Red Legs topped VA #3 Tidewater Drillers Gray 11-8 and NC #7 Rock Solid Red 16-6. The Drillers scored a 13-3 win over Virginia Venom - Neighbor and Rock Solid Red blanked the Venom 9-0 in their other pool play games. In pool I, Canes Baseball VA - Serrano rolled to a 26-2 win over Team Vinci (VA) and a 21-3 win over Rock Solid Blue. Rock Solid Blue blasted their way to a 22-1 win over Team Vinci in the other game in pool I on Saturday. In pool J, Rawlings Stars NC Prospects edged VA Seminoles - Moon 2-0 and topped the Mizuno Blacksox (VA) 12-9. The Seminoles scored a 9-1 win in the other game in pool J.

12 teams made the Gold bracket for Sunday, with the top 4 seeds receiving a bye into the quarterfinals. In the play-in games on Sunday, #9 seed Western Tidewater Rage Elite scored a 6-3 win over #8 seed Rawlings Stars NC Prospects 2025, #5 seed Olney Pirates edged #12 seed Carolina Titans Blue 7-6, #6 seed RISE Red scored a 1-run 6-5 win over #11 seed VA Seminoles - Moon, and #10 seed Canes 757 VA edged #7 seed Huguenot Red Legs 3-2. In the quarterfinals, Canes Baseball NC - Hood topped Western Tidewater Rage Elite 6-11, the Olney Pirates blanked Dirtbags East 2-0, RISE Red edged the NCDB Rivercats 7-6, and Canes VA 757 topped Canes Baseball VA - Serrano 5-3. In the semifinals, Canes - Hood scored an 8-5 win over the Olney Pirates and RISE Red topped Canes VA 757 6-4. In the finals, Canes - Hood scored an 18-12 win over RISE Red to take home the 12u Gold bracket title in Rocky Mount.

13u NC #1 Canes Baseball Eastern NC went 6-0 this weekend at the Border Wars in another impressive showing for the Canes.

The 13u age group featured 11 ranked teams from North Carolina, two ranked teams from Virginia, as well as the 31st ranked team in Perfect Game's 13u National top 100 among the 24 teams in the field. In pool A, national #31 SJ Young Guns (NJ) went 2-0 with a 10-6 win over NC #8 Team Elite American and a 9-2 win over NC #11 Carolina Titans - Wilson. Team Elite notched an 11-1 win over Rock Solid Red and the Titans scored a 12-4 win over Rock Solid Red in their other games in pool A. In pool B, NC #3 Dirtbags TBM went 2-0 with a 17-5 win over Virginia Venom and a 12-5 win over Mid-Atlantic Orioles - Keen (VA). The Delaware Diamonds (MD) went 1-1 in pool B with a 13-1 win over the Orioles and an 8-3 loss against Venom Southside. In pool C, the Mid Maryland United went 2-0 with a 7-2 win over NC #20 Dirtbags Black Raleigh 2024 and a 13-1 win over #9 Canes Baseball NoVA - Rowling (VA). Canes Baseball VA - Celata went 1-1 in pool C with a 10-5 win over Dirtbags Black Raleigh and a 10-0 loss against Canes NoVA - Rowling.

In pool D, the H3 Sabres (VA) went 2-0 with an 11-8 win over NC #19 East Coast Clippers and a 9-7 win over the NCDB Rivercats. Delmarva Aces South went 1-1 in pool D with an 8-5 win over the East Coast Clippers and a 16-9 loss against the NCDB Rivercats. In pool E, NC #5 Carolina Rockies - Wilson went 2-0 with a 12-2 win over NC #9 TPA Nationals - Christman and a 13-0 win over Delmarva Aces East (MD). NC #4 Five Star Carolina - Smith went 1-1 in pool E, falling 9-6 against the TPA Nationals and a 10-5 win over Delmarva Aces East. In pool F, NC #1 Canes Baseball Eastern NC went 2-0 with a 5-4 win over TPA Nationals - McMillan and a 6-0 win over NC #6 Sanford Cobras. VA #6 Stars Baseball - Huller went 1-1 in pool F with a 10-1 win over TPA Nationals and a 12-6 loss against the Sanford Cobras.

In the opening round games, #1 seed Rockies - Wilson topped 16 seed Venom Southside 15-8, #8 seed Team Elite American rolled to a 24-11 win over the #9 seed Delaware Diamonds, #5 seed Canes Eastern NC topped #12 seed Sanford Cobras 8-2, #4 seed SJ Young Guns edged #13 seed Titans - Wilson 10-8, #11 seed Stars - Huller topped the H3 Sabres 10-6, #14 seed blanked #6 seed Mid Maryland United 6-0, #10 seed rolled to a 10-0 win over #7 seed NCDB Rivercats, and #2 seed Dirtbags TBM blasted their way to a 13-1 win over #15 seed Canes VA - Celata. In the quarterfinals, Rockies - Wilson topped Team Elite American 12-7, Canes Baseball Eastern NC topped the SJ Young Guns 6-2, Stars - Huller blanked Canes NoVA - Rowling 2-0, and Five Star Carolina - Smith topped Dirtbags TBM 14-1. In the semifinals, Canes Baseball Eastern NC blanked Rockies - Wilson 8-0 and Five Star - Smith notched an 8-5 win over Stars - Huller to set up a finals match up of the #1 and #4 teams in North Carolina. In the finals, Canes Baseball Eastern NC rolled to a 12-4 win over Five Star Carolina - Smith to secure the Border Wars title in Rocky Mount.
