Top Gun Recap Triangle Region 3/16-3/17/19

Over a half-dozen ranked teams were in action this weekend across the Top Gun sites in Goldsboro/Snow Hill and Holly Springs this weekend. There were several exciting match ups and some statements were made by teams looking to break into the top 20. Take a look at our recap for full details of this weekend's action.

Goldsboro/Snow Hill

NC #3 Dirtbags Black went 2-o in pool play with a 7-6 win over the Area Stars Orange and a 12-6 win over Triangle Region #4 GBI Express and earned the #3 seed for Sunday. The Carolina Chargers scored the top seed for Sunday with a 19-2 win over the Benson Bulls and a 15-8 win over the Carolina Titans. Coastal Region #5 East Carolina Bombers earned the #2 seed going 2-0 in pool play with a 12-3 win over the Benson Bulls and a 13-11 win over the Carolina Titans. In the Gold bracket semifinals, Dirtbags Black notched a 17-7 win over the East Carolina Bombers while the Chargers edged past GBI Express 11-10. In the finals, Dirtbags Black finished off a 4-0 weekend with a 14-6 win over the Carolina Chargers.

NC #7 Canes Baseball NC - Harris went 2-0 in pool play with a 12-2 win over Carolina Rampage Baseball and an 8-6 win over #5 Dirtbags East and earned the #1 seed for bracket play. Dirtbags East topped the Carolina Pirates 9-7 in their other pool play game and earned the #4 seed, while the Rampage topped GameTime Prospects - Fricks in their other pool play game and earned the #3 seed. In the #4/5 play-ing game, Dirtbags East topped GameTime Prospects 8-4. In the #3/6 play-in game, the Rampage rolled to an 18-6 win over the Carolina Pirates. In the semifinals, Canes - Harris topped Dirtbags East 6-1 while the Rampage scored a 12-5 win over Area Stars Orange. In the finals, Canes - Harris scored a 10-0 win over Carolina Rampage baseball to finish 4-0 for the weekend.

NC #7 Dirtbags East went 2-0 in pool play with an 11-1 win over NC #14 Akadema Heat and an 18-3 win over OC Sluggers Red and earned the top seed for bracket play. The Heat fell 10-8 against OC Sluggers Red in their other pool play game and were relegated to the Silver bracket for Sunday. NC #10 NCDB Rivercats earned the #2 seed for bracket play after going 2-0 in pool play with a 6-5 win over Area Stars Orange and a 10-4 win against 10u #5 Dirtbags Black, who was playing up this weekend. The Area Stars scored a 7-5 win over the East Carolina Bombers in their other pool play game and earned the #3 seed for Sunday. The Bombers scored the 4th and final seed in the Gold bracket after a 19-4 win over the Broncos in their other pool play game. The Dirtbags scored an 8-2 win over the Neuse River Broncos in their other pool play game but were relegated to the Silver bracket for Sunday. In the semifinals, the Bombers notched an 8-4 win over Dirtbags East while the Area Stars scored an 8-3 win over NCDB to reach the finals. In the finals, the Area Stars finished off a 3-1 weekend with a 13-4 win over the East Carolina Bombers.

10u NC #12 Dirtbags East played up in the 11u D3 division went 2-0 in pool play with an 8-4 win over the WC Ripperz and a 20-1 win over the Wayne County Arsenal - Stars and earned the top seed for bracket play. Carolina Titans Blue scored the #2 seed with an 11-2 win over the North Johnston Thunder and a 9-8 win over 10u Eastern Impact. In the Gold bracket semifinals, Dirtbags East scored a 9-8 win over the Carolina Raiders and Carolina Titans Blue notched an 11-1 win over the Jacksonville Generals. In the finals, Carolina Titans Blue finished off a 4-0 weekend with a 17-0 win over 10u Dirtbags East.

The SP Vipers scored the top seed in pool play with a 13-0 win over Corinth Elite and a 12-0 win over the Carolina Fireballs. Carolina Titans Blue earned the #2 seed with an 18-2 win over the Carolina Wood Ducks and a 25-0 win over the Wake Forest Renegades. In the #4/5 play-in game, the Washington River Rats notched an 11-8 win over the Wood Ducks. In the #3/6 play-in game, Rock Solid Blue scored a 12-3 win over the Wilson Naturals. In the Gold bracket semifinals, the SP Vipers topped the Washington River Rates 9-5 and Carolina Titans Blue edged past Rock Solid Blue 12-11 to reach the finals. In the finals, Carolina Titans Blue rolled to a 14-4 win over the SP Vipers.

On Saturday, both Gettin Dirty and and the Washington River Rats went 2-0 with wins over the Carolina Rage and the OC Sluggers. Gettin Dirty defeated the Rage 11-7 and the Sluggers 7-5, while the River Rats notched a 5-2 win over the Rage and a 10-5 win over the Sluggers. In the semifinals, Gettin Dirty blanked the Rage 8-0, and the River Rats scored a 5-3 win over the Sluggers. In the finals, the River Rats finished off a 4-0 weekend with a 7-6 win over Gettin Dirty.

 

 

Holly Springs

The Carolina Copperheads went 2-0 on Saturday, scoring a 5-4 win over GBI Express and a 5-2 win over the Holly Springs Atoms. The NSA Legion also went 2-0 in pool play with an 8-7 win over GBI Express and a 16-1 win over the Holly Springs Atoms. In the bracket play semifinals on Sunday, the Legion scored a 12-6 win over GBI Express and the Copperheads rolled to a 13-3 win over the Atoms. In the finals, the Copperheads finished off an undefeated weekend with a 5-2 win over the Legion.

The #1 seed went to the Cleveland Wildcats who scored a 17-1 win over the Riptide and a 14-3 win over the Wendell Knights in pool play. Sandhills Stingrays - Norris scored the #2 seed in the Gold bracket with a 9-1 win over the FV Wildcats and a 6-5 loss against the Alamance Patriots. The Wildcats topped the Patriots 7-5 in their other pool play game which left the Wildcats with the 4th and final spot in the Gold bracket and the Patriots with the 3rd seed in the Gold bracket. In the Gold bracket semifinals, the Stingrays topped the Patriots 6-4 and the Wildcats edged past the FV Wildcats 5-4. In the finals, the Wildcats finished off a 4-0 weekend with another 1-run victory, this time scoring a 10-9 win over Sandhills Stingrays - Norris.

C35 2026RS took home the 11u D3 title this weekend in Holly Springs, going 4-0 for the weekend.

C35 2026Rs scored the #1 seed in bracket play with a 14-2 win over the Walkoff Warriors and a 12-2 win over the Carolina Freedom. The Fuquay Titans earned the #2 seed for Sunday after a 16-1 win over Knights Baseball and a 13-8 win over the Carolina Dodgers on Saturday. Rocky Mount Marshals 2026 earned the #3 seed in the Gold bracket with a 13-2 win over Knights Baseball and a 10-7 loss against the Dodgers. In the Gold bracket semifinals, the Marshals topped the Titans 11-7 and the C35 2026RS edged past the Walk Off Academy Warriors 10-9. In the finals, C35 2026RS finished off a 4-0 weekend with a 12-4 win over Rocky Mount Marshals 2026.

NC #10 Dirtbags East went 1-1 in pool play, topping the Riptide 5-1 before falling 10-3 against Fury Baseball, and earned the 4th seed in the Gold bracket. Fury Baseball scored an 8-0 win over Team Ghost in their other pool play game to earn the top seed in the Gold bracket. TPA Nationals - Zuber scored the #2 seed in the Gold bracket with a 13-3 win over the South Wake Storm and a 5-1 loss against Team Ghost, who received the #3 seed for Gold bracket play. In the #4/5 play-in game on Sunday, Dirtbags East edged past the Riptide 5-4. In the #3/6 play-in game, Team Ghost scored a 13-3 win over the South Wake Storm. In the semifinals, Dirtbags East notched an 11-8 win over Fury Baseball and Team Ghost scored a 9-5 win over TPA Nationals - Zuber. In the finals, Dirtbags East finished a 4-1 weekend and a 3-0 Sunday with a 10-5 win over Team Ghost.

The Zebulon Cougars scored the #1 seed for Sunday with an 11-0 win over 11u Dirtbags Platinum, who were playing up this weekend, and a 14-2 win over the Carolina Stars. The Cleveland Wildcats earned the #2 seed for Sunday with a 6-3 win over 11u Dirtbags Platinum and an 8-6 win over Carolina Stars in pool play. In the Gold bracket semifinals on Sunday, the Cougars rolled to a 16-6 win over DPC Baseball and the Cleveland Wildcats notched an 8-2 win over Triangle Sports Hawks Black. In the finals, the Zebulon Cougars finished off a 4-0 weekend with an 11-1 win over the Cleveland Wildcats.

The Arsenal earned the top seed in the Gold bracket with an 11-1 win over the Southwestern Wake Sliders and a 12-2 win over the Fuquay Bengals. The Durham Blues scored the #2 seed in the Gold bracket with an 18-6 win over the North Raleigh Tsunami and an 18-1 win over the Carolina Dirtdawgs. The Carolina Stars finished with the #3 seed in the Gold bracket with a 10-4 win over the Tsunami and a 12-3 win over the Dirtdawgs. In the Gold bracket semifinals on Sunday, the Stars topped the Durham Blues 13-9 and the Arsenal blanked the Sliders 13-0. In the finals, the Aresenal rolled to a 12-2 win over the Carolina Stars to finish 4-0 for the weekend.

NC #3 Sanford Cobras played up in the 14u age group this weekend and went 4-0, scoring a 3-0 win over the Riptide and a 15-0 win over Riptide - Thompson on Saturday, and an 11-1 win over Riptide - Thompson and a 14-7 win over the Apex Spartans on Sunday.
