Rain limited play for many teams around the state, but for the vast majority of teams, some baseball was able to be played. He’ll we will review some of the highlights from the weekend in Top Gun.

No games were played on Sunday in this age group. #7 Smash Baseball went 2-0 this weekend with wins over Bomberz Baseball (16-1) and Carolina Thunder (8-5). #20 PITT413 went 1-1 for the weekend with a close 12-11 victory over #16 Stix as well as a narrow 12-9 loss to Carolina Freedom. Stix also went 1-1 for the weekend with a 8-7 win over Carolina Freedom in addition to their loss to PITT413.

No games were played on Sunday in this age group. 10u #1 Evoshield Canes NC – Gilchrist went 2-0 with wins over Garner Baseball (7-3) and the Carolina Titans (11-8). 11u #3 Cleveland Wildcats also went 2-0 with wins over the Carolina Pilots (12-8) and the Diamond Hawks (15-5). #14 Hitmen Baseball also went 2-0 with two dominating wins over the Carolina Pilots (14-3) and the TopHand Reds (11-1).

No games were played on Sunday in this age group. #1 Legends Baseball did nothing to hurt their status as the top team in this age group going 2-0 with dominating wins over #18 Archers (23-3) and Carolina Titans Blue (16-4). #15 Carolina Titans – Wilson also performed quite well going 2-0 with wins over the Rawlings Prospects NC (15-0) and Xtreme Heights (11-3). Archers were able to finish up the weekend 1-1 with a win over Carolina Titans Blue (15-6).

No games were played on Sunday in this age group. #11 Carolina Titans – Ambrose had a disappointing weekend going 0-2 with losses to Pamlico River Rats (7-6) and the Mid Atlantic Pirates (VA) (5-3). Greenville Athletics – Jones went 2-0 with wins over The Performance Academy – Foster (10-3) and the Carolina Stingers (10-0). #16 Youngsville Intimidators went 1-1 with a win over Rock Solid Red (7-6) and a loss to the Beach Bulldogs (VA) (19-11). Rawlings Prospects NC also went 2-0 with wins over The Performance Academy – Foster (11-10) and the Carolina Stingers (5-4).

The Lake Norman Vipers went 4-0 in the machine pitch division.

It was a great weekend for the Mount Holly Lightning as they went 4-0 with a 6-3 victory over the SBA Canes (who went 3-1 for the weekend) in the finals. Both teams will be in consideration for inclusion in the 9u rankings this week.

Although a few games were rained out on Saturday, Heat Baseball took home the title on Sunday going 3-0 with a win over the Triple Crown Lookouts (12-7) in the finals.

Rain kept many teams from completing their games on Saturday in the 11u age group. In the end, #19 Carolina Astros took home the Gold Bracket championship with a 12-11 victory of the OTK Saints in the finals. Although they were not able to play on Saturday due to the rain, #18 SBA Canes – Erwin went 2-0 on Sunday with wins over Team USA Diamond King (5-2) and Stealth Elite Falcons (11-10). #20 Vision Bandits had an up and down weekend going 2-0 on Saturday with wins over Grand Slam USA Stars (9-2) and Stealth Elite Falcons (5-2) but 0-2 on Sunday with close losses to Copperheads – Rowlands (10-9) and On Deck O’s (10-9).

#19 Park Sharon Nationals had an impressive weekend going 5-0 including an 11-8 win over #6 Charlotte Nationals, a 21-3 win over #17 Carolina Chaos, and a 12-0 victory over Couloak Thunder in the finals. Carolina Chaos finished 2-1 for the weekend with their loss to the Park Sharon Nationals. The Charlotte Nationals finished a disappointing 1-2 with losses to the Park Sharon Nationals and Copperheads – Dimenna (9-8) on Sunday.

#2 Evoshield Canes – Haire finished 4-0 for the weekend winning the Gold Bracket championship including a 13-6 victory over Weddington Academy in the championship.

No games were played on Sunday in this age group, however this age group turned out to be as competitive as advertised with #2 West Raleigh Blue going 2-0 with wins over #6 NCDB Rivercats (12-2) and the Wilson Reds (11-5). The NCDB Rivercats did manage to finish 1-1 with a win over #3 Carolina Red Sox – Jones, who finished 0-2 with losses to both the NCDB Rivercats and the Wilson Reds (13-9).

#14 Akadema Knights Gray took home the Gold Bracket championship in the 54/80 division going 4-0 with a 10-7 win over Team Velo Pirates in the finals as well as a 15-5 victory over #20 West Raleigh Skeeters in the semi-finals. The West Raleigh Skeeters finished a disappointing 2-2 for the weekend. In the 60/90 division, the Holly Springs Rage Black (Ferreira) went 4-0 and took home the Gold Bracket championship. Of interest, 13u #1 Evoshield Canes NC – Gallaher went 2-0 playing up in the 14u age group. Unfortunately no games were played on Sunday in the 14u age group.

Unfortunately Sunday was washed out after the first two games of the day. #1 West Raleigh Blue went 2-1, suffering a loss to #3 Dirtbags Black (11-9) on Saturday. Dirtbags black finished 2-0 for the weekend as did Greenville Athletics who scored wins over East Coast Elite (18-9) and Carolina Freedom (14-5).

No games were played on Sunday in this age group. #5 Clayton Fusion played up to their potential going 2-0 with dominating wins over #20 South Wake Storm (12-0) and the Richmond Raiders (15-3). #9 NCDB Rivercats suffered an upset loss to the North Wake Elite (10-8) but rebounded with a 12-1 win over the Rocky Mount Raiders to finish 1-1 for the weekend. #13 Youngsville Heat went 2-0 for the weekend with wins over the Carolina Raiders (16-10) and the Richmond Raiders (16-5). Of note, 9u #12 Neuse River Broncos played up in the 10u age group and went 1-1 with a win over the Rocky Mount Raiders (13-11) and a loss to the Carolina Titans (14-5).

The Riegelwood Lumberjacks went 3-0 for the weekend to win the Gold Bracket championship, however the finals appears to have been rained out.

Only a handful of games were played on Sunday in this age group. Rock Sold Red turned in an impressive weekend, going 3-0 with wins over #16 Stix (6-5), Hope Mills Vipers (15-8), and the Carolina Titans (SC) (6-2). #4 Sandhills Stingrays finished 2-1 for the weekend including a loss on Saturday to #8 Port City Rebels (8-2). Port City Rebels finished 2-0 and were unable to complete a game on Sunday. The Stix finished 2-1 for the weekend with wins over Hope Mills Vipers (8-1) and the Wilmington Wahoo (6-5).
Greensboro
#11 East Rowan went 4-0 winning the Gold Bracket championship. This included wins over #4 WM9 Signature (14-11) in the semi-finals, and #14 5 Star Carolina (6-3) in the finals. Wm9 Signature finished 2-1 for the weekend, as did 5 Star Carolina.
