Baseball is finally back. Top Gun gets us started with an umpire training event on both Saturday and Sunday. Although its still very early in the spring baseball season, numerous of our top 20 teams are scattered across the different age groups in Goldsboro. In addition, it should be noted that 11u #1 SBA Canes – Ross will be in action this weekend in the new USSSA Space Coast complex in the USSSA President’s Day Super NIT.

8u #3 Dirtbags Black will be in action this weekend in Goldsboro. In addition, #10 FV Wildcats will also be in the field. These two will go head-to-head on Saturday in an early match up of top 10 8u teams.

10u #16 Youngsville Heat will be the top ranked 10u team in the Saturday event in Goldsboro. They’ll face the Clement Duck Dogs and Area Stars – Stanton on Saturday. Of note, 9u Coach’s Box Broncos (formerly Neuse River Broncos) will be playing up in the 10u division. They’ll be up against the OC Sluggers and Clement Duck Dogs.

#18 Carolina Pilots are the top ranked 11u team playing on opening weekend in Goldsboro. They are matched up against the Triangle Sports Hawks (formerly HYAA Hawks) and the Wendell Sharks.

12u #3 Legends Baseball will be getting their spring season started early this weekend. They battled back and forth with Minion and East Rowan all fall for the top spot in the 12u age group. They’re scheduled to play the Youngsville Punishers and the Carolina Stars on Saturday.

None of our top 20 are in the 13u field on Saturday.

None of our top 10 are in the field this Sunday in Goldsboro, however there are several new teams in the field. As expected in this age group, a new influx of talented teams should shake things up quite a bit in the rankings this spring.

8u #3 Dirtbags Black will be playing up in the 9u age group on Sunday this weekend. They’ll see some tough competition including a game against Dirtbags East (formerly Stix) and Coach’s Box Broncos, who spent some time in our 9u top 20 in the fall.

The Sunday 10u field is excellent for a mid-February field. It includes 10u #6 Dirtbags East (formerly Stix), #8 FV Wildcats, and #16 Youngsville Heat. Dirtbags East will go against FV Wildcats and the Carolina Pilots, while the Wildcats will go against the Clement Duck Dogs in addition to the Dirtbags. Youngsville will face the Clement Duck Dogs again in a rematch of Saturday’s game, and the Walk Off Academy Warriors.

#18 Carolina Pilots are the top ranked team in the 11u field and they’ll go against an excellent Dirtbags East (formerly Dynamite Stix) team as well as the Triangle Sports Hawks. The Dirtbags will face the Crystal Coast Surge in their other game on Sunday.

#3 Legends Baseball headlines the D1 Sunday field as well and will face Carolina Titans – Wilson and the Carolina Wildcards in a 3 team division. There is also a 4-team D2 division and a 13-team D3 division in the 12u age group this Sunday.

None of our top 20 13u teams will be in the 13u field, although 13u #6 Diamond Thieves will be playing up in the 14u division, where they’ll face the Carolina Pelicans and the Dillard Dragons.
