There were 4 divisions of play and 42 teams total in action in the 13u age group this weekend at the Summer World Series. #1 Canes Baseball NC - Gallaher showed again why they are the top 13u team in the state with an impressive run through the D1 60/90 division. Friday Pool Play
With 7 of our top 10 including #1 Canes Baseball NC - Gallaher, #2 Canes Baseball NC - Haire, #4 NCDB Rivercats, #5 East Coast Clippers, #6 Carolina Havoc - Clonch, #8 Dirtbags - Smith, #9 Diamond Thieves, and 3 more of our top 20 including #13 Carolina Naturals, #16 Walk Off Wariors, and #18 Carolina Rage all in one field, this was going to be an extremely competitive division. On Friday, Canes - Gallaher got started in impressive fashion with a 17-4 win over the Virginia Stars - Colangelo and an 8-6 win over the RBA Southies to finish 2-0 for the day. Canes - Haire started Friday with 7-4 win over the East Coast Clippers, but fell 8-5 to Carolina Havoc - Clonch in their second game of the day. The Clippers scored a 7-4 win over the Tidewater Drillers and the Havoc notched a 13-0 win over the Drillers in their other games on Friday. The NCDB Rivercats scored a 9-3 win over the Carolina Rage and an 8-4 win over Canes VA - McDonald to finish 2-0 on Friday. Dirtbags - Smith went 1-1 on Friday with a 12-1 win over the Walkoff Warriors and an 8-3 loss to Canes 757 - Chalk (VA). The Diamond Thieves went 0-2 on Friday with a 9-1 loss to the Carolina Naturals and a 4-2 loss to Virginia Stars - Colangelo. The Naturals notched an 8-0 win over the RBA Southies in their other pool play game on Friday.
Saturday Pool Play
On Saturday, Canes - Gallaher picked up right where they left off, scoring an 8-6 win over the Carolina Havoc and a 5-4 win over the Walk Off Warriors to finish 4-0 in pool play and score the #2 seed for bracket play. The NCDB Rivercats earned the top seed for bracket play after a 7-0 win over the RBA Southies and a 9-2 win over the Rawlings Prospects NC left them 4-0 in pool play. The #3 seed in bracket play went to the Carolina Naturals who finished 3-1 in pool play after a 6-2 loss to Dirtbags - Smith and a 10-2 win over the Carolina Rage on Saturday. Dirtbags - Smith finished with the #7 seed for bracket play after finishing 2-2 in pool play with a 7-5 loss to the Virginia Stars - Colangelo in their other game on Saturday. Canes - Haire finished with the #5 seed for bracket play after 9-8 win over Canes 757 - Chalk and a 16-2 win over the Diamond Thieves on Saturday.
Bracket Play
In the quarterfinals, #1 NCDB Rivercats blanked #8 seed Canes Baseball VA - McDonald 2-0, #2 Canes - Gallaher topped #7 Dirtbags - Smith 8-3, #3 Carolina Naturals fell 7-6 against the Virginia Stars - Colangelo, and #4 Mid Atlantic Pirates (VA) fell to #5 Canes - Haire 15-4. In the semifinals, Canes - Gallaher scored a 9-1 win over the Virginia Stars - Colangelo and the Rivercats notched their 2nd shut-out of bracket play, and 3rd of the weekend, with a 9-0 win over Canes - Haire. In the finals, Canes - Gallaher faced off against one of the few teams that has given them a loss at the 13u level in the NCDB Rivercats. Playing their 7th game of weekend, the Canes' depth won out as they notched a 14-2 win to complete a 7-0 weekend.

15 teams including 9 from North Carolina, 4 from Virginia, and 2 from South Carolina faced off in the 13u D2 60/90 division. On Friday, the Carolina Titans - Ambrose went 2-0 with a 6-0 win over the West Raleigh Skeeters and a 9-1 win over the Youngsville Intimidators. Rock Solid Blue went 2-0 on Friday as well with a 6-3 win over the Intimidators and a 9-7 win over the RBA South Nationals. The Virginia Stars Blue went 2-0 on Friday as well with a 15-0 win over the West Raleigh Warriors and a 16-1 win over CSB. Team VA went 2-0 on Friday with a 9-4 win over Rivals Baseball and a 7-6 win over Purpose Driven Baseball.
Saturday Pool Play
Titans - Ambrose went 2-0 on Saturday, and 4-0 overall in pool play, with a 10-6 win over Rock Solid Blue and an 11-1 win over CSB. This placed them in the #2 seed for bracket play on Sunday. The Virginia Stars Blue earned the top seed for bracket play with a 6-3 win over the North Wake Thunder and a 10-0 win over Purpose Driven Baseball. Team VA earned the #3 seed after going 2-0 on Saturday and 4-0 overall with a 6-5 win over Heat Baseball and an 8-4 win over the TPA Nationals - Foster.
Bracket Play
In the play-in game on Sunday, #8 Heat Baseball topped #9 West Raleigh Skeeters 7-6. In the quarterfinals, #4 Rivals baseball notched a 13-0 win over #5 Rock Solid Blue, #2 Titans - Ambrose rolled to a 12-1 win over the RBA South Nationals (VA),#1 Virginia Stars Blue topped Heat Baseball 11-1, and #3 Team VA scored a 14-2 win over the RBA South Phillies (VA). In the semifinals, #1 Virginia Stars Blue scored a 12-8 win over Rivals Baseball while Team VA edged Titans - Ambrose 6-3. In an all-Virginia final, the Virginia Stars Blue completed a 7-0 weekend with a 10-6 win over Team VA.

8 teams faced off in the 13u 54/80 Open division. Previously ranked PITT413 went 2-0 on Friday with a 16-11 win over the Clayton Cyclones and a 17-5 win over the South Wake Storm Red. The South Wake Storm Red scored an 11-5 win over the Clayton Cyclones in their other game on Friday. The RBI Raptors also went 2-0 on Friday with a 4-3 win over the 12u Rawlings Prospects NC and an 11-1 win over the Riptide.
Saturday Pool Play
PITT413 scored another 2 wins on Saturday with an 11-9 win over the 12u Rawlings Prospects and a 20-5 win over the Five Star Wildcats to earn the top seed for bracket play. The RBI Raptors earned the #2 seed with a 12-2 win over the North Wake Bandits and a 7-6 loss against the Clayton Cyclones to finished 3-1 in pool play. The South Wake Storm Red went 2-0 on Saturday and 3-1 overall with a 4-3 win over the Five Star Wildcats and a 14-9 win over the Riptide and earned the #3 seed for bracket play.

In the quarterfinals, #1 PITT413 topped the North Wake Bandits 6-4, #2 RBI Raptors edged the 12u Rawlings Prospects NC 4-1, #3 South Wake Storm scored a 1-run 7-6 win over the Riptide, and #4 Five Star Wildcats scored a 1-run 9-8 win over the Clayton Cyclones. In the semifinals, the RBI Raptors topped the South Wake Storm 9-3 and PITT413 blanked the Five Star Wildcats 8-0. In the finals, the RBI Raptors took a 5-3 decision over PITT413 to take home the 54/80 Open division title.

12 teams faced off in the D3 54/80 division this past weekend. The Neuse River Broncos went 2-0 on Friday with a 10-6 win over the Hammerheads and a 17-5 win over the New Bern Naughty Boys. The Naughty Boys topped the Raleigh Fury 10-1 in their other game on Friday. The Hammerheads scored a 26-5 win over the Carolina Makos in their other pool play game on Friday. The South Wake Lightning went 1-1 on Friday with a 13-2 loss to the Carolina Rage and a 6-5 win over the Connie Corey Hurricanes. The Carolina Crusaders for Christ went 2-0 on Friday with an 11-1 win over Zone Select and an 8-5 win over the Fuquay Bengals.
Saturday Pool Play
The Neuse River Broncos completed an undefeated run through pool play with a 7-0 win over the Holly Springs Rage and a 13-11 win over the Raleigh Fury and earned the top seed for bracket play. The Hammerheads earned the #2 seed for bracket play going 3-1 overall in pool play with a 23-0 win over Raleigh 9 and a 13-3 win over the Fuquay Bengals on Saturday. The Carolina Crusaders for Christ earned the #3 seed after a 13-6 win over the Carolina Makos and a 13-6 loss to the New Bern Naughty Boys left them 3-1 in pool play.
Bracket Play
In the quarterfinals, #1 Neuse River topped the Raleigh Fury 10-1, #2 Hammerheads scored a 14-3 win over the Connie Corey Hurricanes, #3 Carolina Crusaders for Christ fell 10-0 to Zone Select, and #4 South Wake Lightning dropped a 15-1 decision against the New Bern Naughty Boys. In the semifinals, the Hammerheads scored a 7-4 win over Zone Select while the Naughty Boys edged the Broncos 7-5. In the finals, the New Bern Naughty Boys completed their run to a title with a 9-7 win over the Hammerheads.
