SC USSSA Recap 3/2-3/3/19

Several SC USSSA sites were able to get games in this weekend. Numerous ranked teams were in action, including 1o top ten South Carolina teams and the #2 12u team in North Carolina, SBA Futures, and there was a great early season game between SC #2 St. Andrews Rocks and the SBA Futures. Here we recap the early season USSSA games in South Carolina from this past weekend.

Hartsville

SC #4 Yellow Jackets went 2-0 on Sunday, notching an 18-8 win over the Hartsville Devils and a 23-5 win over #3 Blythewood Bombers. The Bombers fell 17-6 against the Hartsville Devils in their other game on Sunday.

The Coastal Bombers went 2-0 on Sunday, notching a 9-4 win over the Palmetto State Copperheads and an 11-3 win over Southern Impact. The Copperheads scored a 10-8 win over Southern Impact in their other game on Sunday.

Southern Impact went 2-0 on Sunday including a 5-2 win over the Hartsville Chargers and a 12-1 win over the Florence Revolution. #7 Blythewood Bombers went 1-1 fall 5-3 against the Chargers before scoring an 11-2 win over the J-town Express.  The Revolution topped the Express 11-6 in their other pool play game.

 

 

Lexington

In this one-day bracket event, Blythewood Bombers Gold scored a 5-4 win over Talon Baseball - Tisdale and Gameday Shockwave notched a 7-2 win over the South Carolina Chaos. In the final, the Bombers rolled to a 10-4 win over the Shockwave. In the consolation final, the Chaos scored a 10-5 win over Talon - Tisdale.

SC #6 Kershaw Bandits reached the final by going 2-0 in pool play with an 8-0 win over Garnet and Black and a 9-2 win over the United Jackets. They faced off against the Carolina Reds in the final after the Reds went 2-0 in pool play with an 8-0 win over the Columbia Thunder and a 9-6 win over 9u Talon Baseball. Talon scored a 15-3 win over the Columbia Thunder in their other pool play game. In the finals, the Bandits edged past the Reds 11-10 to take home the title in their first event of the spring.

Chapin Talon went 2-0 in pool play with a 3-2 win over the Midlands Marauders and a 10-1 win over the Warhawks. The Augusta Reds (GA) also went 2-0 in pool play notching a SC 11u #4 Predators NE and a 12-11 win over win over SC 10u #4 Gameday Shockwave. Predators NE finished 1-1 in pool play, scoring a 16-3 win over 10u Gameday Shockwave, in addition to their loss to the Augusta Reds. In the finals, the Augusta Reds rolled to an 18-6 win over Chapin Talon to take home the title in Lexington.

 

 

North Charleston

The Summerville Vapor finished as the only undefeated team this weekend in the 10u age group after defeating the Charleston Revolution 8-5 and the SC Warhawks 13-4. The Revolution notched a 22-5 win over PBA Palmetto Punishers in their other game on Saturday. The Palmetto Blueclaws went 1-1 in their games this weekend with a 9-2 win over the Punishers and a 6-2 loss against Berkley Baseball Club. Berkley Baseball Club fell 8-4 against the Warhawks in their other game on Saturday.

SC #3 Charleston Revolution - Whittle went 2-0 this weekend with a 9-1 win over the SC Warhawks and a 14-2 win over the St. Andrews Rocks. SC #10 Summerville Vapor Pink also went 2-0 with a 17-0 win over the St. Andrews Rocks and a 9-3 win over Charleston Revolution - Downing.

NC #2 SBA Futures traveled down to North Charleston this weekend to open up their spring season. On Saturday, the Futures went 2-0 with a 12-0 win over SC #9 Junior Riverdogs (SC) and a 14-0 win over the Carolina Tide (SC). On Sunday, the Futures dropped a 2-1 contest against SC #2 St. Andrews Rocks and scored a 9-1 win over the Charleston Revolution. The Rocks tied the Carolina Tide 3-3 in their only other game of the weekend. The Carolina Prospects (SC) went 2-0 this weekend with a 9-5 win over the Hanahan Hawks (SC) and a 13-2 win over the Dungeon Dogs (SC). The Palmetto Hitmen also went 2-0 this past weekend, scoring a 9-3 win over the Junior Riverdogs and an 8-4 win over the Carolina Venom (SC).
