The AAU sites had some excellent baseball ongoing this weekend at three sites. The fields were highlighted by upset wins over top 20 teams in Oxford and an excellent showing by the 9u HYAA Hawks. Here we recap the weekend’s games.
It was a big weekend of action at the USSSA sites this past weekend. 9u #1 Park Sharon and 11u #1 SBA Canes – Ross were both in action this weekend. The 10u age group had multiple ranked teams in action, including a matchup of 9u #1 Park Sharon and #2 SBA Canes – Simmons. With over 300 teams in action between just the Charlotte and Triangle Region Top Gun sites this past weekend, we were forced to split our Top Gun recap into two parts this week. Part 1 will focus on just the Charlotte and Triangle tournaments sites where there was some big time action. 10u #1 Canes Baseball NC – Gilchrist received a scare before getting rained out and 8u #1 Carolina Threshers and 12u #1 Legends both went down…and that was just at the Triangle site. USSSA had a few sites going this past Memorial weekend. Featured at the various sites were several top 10 and 20 teams, including a top 10 match up in the 13u age group between #3 Knights Prime and #7 Dirtbags – Smith. Check out our recap of the weekend’s games.

There was only one AAU site in action this Memorial Weekend with several ranked teams in the fields across the three age groups. The Carolina Vandals continued their strong play with a 4-0 weekend and Five Star Carolina – Smith proved they deserve consideration amongst the state’s best teams in the 12u age group. Top Gun had several sites rained out this weekend, however teams were still able to get in some baseball this weekend at various sites. There were numerous ranked teams including nearly a dozen top 10 teams, with several playing up. The 10 and 12u age groups in Charleston saw multiple match ups with ranked teams, including some great games between #2 Minion, #6 East Rowan, and #7 Majestic Greensboro. There was some exciting action, despite the rain, at the USSSA sites this weekend. In particular, Charlotte saw 9u #2 SBA Canes – Simmons win a great championship game against perhaps the top team in South Carolina, Team 24 Gamecocks – Ashley. The 11u division featured 5 teams in the top 11 in the state and numerous match ups amongst the teams. Here we recap the USSSA games from this past weekend.
There were a handful of ranked team in play in the USSSA one-day events this weekend, including 9u #1 Park Sharon Nationals, 10u #2 SBA Canes – Marconi, and 11u #2 SBA Canes – Ross, who all played up an age group. There were just a few sites, teams, and age groups in action this holiday weekend for AAU. Nevertheless, there was some competitive action and some impressive performances including the North Wake Shockwave taking the 11u title. Here we provide a brief recap of the AAU results from the weekend.
