Rain on Saturday cancelled the day’s games and turned this tournament into a Sunday-only event. Still there were several ranked teams in action this weekend, with a handful of teams playing up an age group. Here we recap Sunday’s games in Cary.
Two North Carolina teams faced off against some of the best teams in the nation this past weekend in Cary, NC. #1 SBA Canes – Marconi and #2 Canes Baseball NC – Gilchrist both received an invite to the prestigious USA Baseball Futures Invitational. We are closing in on the end of the spring, but there was still some exciting baseball going on in Charlotte this weekend at the USSSA site. 8 of our top 20 13u teams were in the field Perfect Game Super 25 Qualifier field this past weekend in Greensboro. #1 Canes Baseball NC – Gallaher was the headliner, but with 19 teams representing 5 different states in the field, this was a wide open tournament. The 12u Top Gun Summer World Series featured a 19-team D1 division, a 22-team D2 division, and a 21-team D3 division. The D1 division had 8 of our top 20 teams as well as perhaps the top team in the state of Virginia in Team Dirty South Venom from Williamsburg, VA. 7 of the our top 10 teams and 8 of our top 20 10u teams in the state of North Carolina were in action in the D1 10u field this weekend. In addition, perhaps two of the best teams in the state of Virginia in the Virginia Stars – Camp and the Tidewater Horns (D1), as well as two more top 20 teams (D2) were in action this weekend as well. This past weekend, some of the best 12u teams in the state faced off in the Perfect Game Super 25 Qualifier in Greensboro, NC. 6 top 20 teams were in the field including #2 Legends Baseball, #6 Carolina Rockies, #8 Majestic Greensboro, #9 Carolina Thunder, #10 Canes Baseball NC – Harland and #12 Sanford Cobras. There were 4 divisions of play and 42 teams total in action in the 13u age group this weekend at the Summer World Series. #1 Canes Baseball NC – Gallaher showed again why they are the top 13u team in the state with an impressive run through the D1 60/90 division. With 3 top 20 teams in the D1 field and another in the D2 field, as well as two of the top teams from the state of Virginia, there was plenty of high-level baseball being played last weekend at the 11u Summer World Series. 10 teams squared off in the D1 division, and there were 23 teams in each of the D2 and D3 divisions, making this is largest age group of the weekend by number of teams.
