Rankings Update 10/10/17

Our updated rankings are now out for each age group. This past weekend led to some movement in the rankings across many age groups. We also had several new teams make appearances in the rankings. Below we detail all the relevant results and changes.

8u

With an 11-9 win over previous #1 West Raleigh Blue, Dirtbags Black staked their claim as the top 8u team in the state of North Carolina. These two teams should definitely see each other again as both teams are signed up for the Top Gun Winter World Series on October 20-22. The Carolina Threshers remain at #2 in our rankings. This is a really unique team in that they are currently listed as D3 in Top Gun, but have a 13-0 record this fall with wins over the #1 Dirtbags Black (16-7), #7 Stix (7-6), and #9 Greenville Athletics (18-2). The Carolina Vandals move into our rankings at #4 after sweeping through the Clemmons AAU site this past weekend in a field that included #6 Spartans Allen.

9u

The top 2 spots remained the same as Dirtbags Black were not in action and West Raleigh Blue went 2-0 with wins over #6 NCDB Rivercats and new #20 Wilson Reds. The only difference between our top two is Dirtbags Black’s 8-7 victory over West Raleigh Blue in September. Former #3 Carolina Red Sox – Jones dropped all the way to 15th after going 0-2 this past weekend with losses to the NCDB Rivercats (15-4) and the Wilson Reds (13-9). Former #7 Smash Baseball jumped the NCDB Rivercats after two dominating wins this weekend. #11 Neuse River Broncos held their own playing up in 10u going 1-1 with a win over the D3 Rocky Mount Raiders and a loss to the D2 Carolina Titans. PITT413 moved up to #16 above Stix, who dropped to 17th, after a close 8-7 win over Stix this past weekend. The loss was the Stix’s first loss of the fall season. The Mount Holly Lightning enter our rankings at #16 after a 4-0 weekend in Charlotte.

10u

Evoshield Canes NC – Gilchrist remain a clear #1 in the 10u rankings going 2-0 this past weekend while playing up in the 11u age group in Rocky Mount. The Canes are now 14-0 this fall with wins over #2 Cobras Baseball, #4 Clayton Fusion (twice), #5 Mission Baseball, #15 Carolina Havoc, #16 Dirtbags Black, #17 Stix, and #19 FV Wildcats. Cobras Baseball remains #2 and looks to be the biggest threat to unseat Evoshield Canes NC – Gilchrist. Port City Rebels move up to #3 after a convincing 8-2 win over former #4 (now #8) Sandhills Stingrays and a win over #17 Stix. Clayton Fusion moved up to #4 after a dominating weekend (2-0) in Goldsboro. East Rowan moved up from #11 to #7 after several teams lost in front of them. Rock Solid Red moved into our rankings at #10 going 3-0 with wins over #17 Stix and the Carolina Titans (SC). The NCDB Rivercats dropped from 9th to 14th after going 1-1 with a close loss (10-8) to North Wake Elite. Dirtbags Black dropped from 7th to 16th after an upset loss to GRIT 10u.

11u

SBA Canes – Ross remains in our #1 spot and was idle this past weekend. Evoshield Canes NC – Simpson dropped from #2 to #5 after losing to the Carolina Bruins (SC) in North Myrtle Beach. This opened the door for the Cleveland Wildcats to move to our #3 spot after going 2-0 this weekend. Hitmen Baseball improved from 14th to 8th after going 2-0 this weekend. The Carolina Astros also made a big jump from #19 to #12 after going 3-0 in Charlotte this weekend. The NCDB Rivercats dropped from 15th to 19th after going 1-3 in the 12u division in Oxford, including a loss to 11u #6 Five Star Carolina – Neyra. Vision Bandits dropped from our rankings and the Dynamite Stix moved into the #20 slot.

12u

Legends Baseball remained in the top spot after a dominating 2-0 weekend with wins over Archers (23-3) and Carolina Titans Blue (16-4). Evoshield Canes NC – Harland remain at #2 this week. WM9 Signature fell from #4 to #13 after going 2-1 with a loss (14-11) to new #5 East Rowan, who moved up from #11. The Park Sharon Nationals made a big jump from 19th to 6th after an impressive 5-0 weekend that included wins over #14 Charlotte Nationals (11-8) and #20 Carolina Chaos (21-3). The Charlotte Nationals dropped from 6th to 14th after a 1-2 weekend. The Carolina Titans – Wilson moved up from 15th to 11th after a 2-0 weekend in which they outscored their opponents (Rawlings Prospects NC and Xtreme Heights) a combined 26-3.

13u

The top 8 remained intact this weekend with no surprise upsets. It appears Evoshield Canes NC – Gallaher and Evoshield Canes NC – Haire will be in a tight battle for the top spot  headed into the Top Gun Winter World Series on October 20th-22nd (both will be playing 60/90). #3 East Coast Clippers and #4 NCDB Rivercats will also be playing 60/90 at the Top Gun Winter World Series, so it should be a fantastic weekend. Akadema Knights gray moved up from 14th to 9th after going 4-0 in Cary this past weekend. The Holly Springs Rage Black (Ferreira) make their debut in the rankings, coming in at #15 after going 4-0 in the 60/90 division in Cary this weekend. The Youngsville Intimidators dropped from #16 to out of the rankings after a 1-1 weekend, and former #20 West Raleigh Skeeters dropped out of the rankings after a 2-2 weekend. Greenville Athletics – Jones and Dirtbags Smith are also making their debut in the rankings at #17 and #19, respectively.
