AAU has shortened their Oxford tournament to a one-day event because of the impending cold and rain on Sunday. It should be another great weekend of Top Gun baseball as the official tournaments get kicked off this weekend. Lots of great teams in action, so there should be some great baseball played across the state. Here’s a brief rundown of this weekend’s action.
AAU ramps up their action this weekend with the start of the Oxford season. In addition, AAU has added a new tournament site (Kinston) for the spring, so we expect to see some new teams and match ups in these tournaments this season. Here’s a quick rundown of this weekend’s AAU action.
60 teams will be in play this weekend for USSSA as their spring tournament schedule starts to really ramp up this weekend. Some of the best teams in the state, particularly from the Charlotte area will be in action this weekend. For a February tournament of “scrimmages”, there are some absolutely loaded fields. Baseball is finally back. Top Gun gets us started with an umpire training event on both Saturday and Sunday. Although its still very early in the spring baseball season, numerous of our top 20 teams are scattered across the different age groups in Goldsboro. In addition, it should be noted that 11u #1 SBA Canes – Ross will be in action this weekend in the new USSSA Space Coast complex in the USSSA President’s Day Super NIT.
This weekend it’s the AAU’s turn to put on their showcase event of the fall season, the Winter World Series. Taking place in Oxford, NC, this event will feature some of the very best teams in the state. Here we preview the action this upcoming weekend.
Now it’s the 10u and 12u age group’s chance to play some of the best competition they’ll see all fall. Many of the top teams from the state of North Carolina as well as teams from South Carolina, Virginia, and even Georgia will be in the tournament this weekend. Much like the 9u, 11u, and 13u tournaments a few weeks ago, this weekend is sure to have some outstanding baseball. And oh yeah, the play-in games are back!
