Huge weekend on tap at Shipyard Park

Rain has slowed the start of the Spring 2019 baseball season across the region. That shouldn't be a problem this weekend, as 30 teams across 4 age groups will take to the all-turf fields at Shipyard Park in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Among those 30 teams, teams from 5 states (GA, NC, SC, VA, and WV) including 8 ranked teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia will be in action. Highlighting these fields will be the 11u D1 field in which 5 of the 6 teams are ranked in the top 10 in their respective states, and the 6th team almost certainly will be soon. Here we provide a brief preview of the top games this weekend in Mount Pleasant.

9u

6 teams will battle it out in the 9u age group this weekend in Mount Pleasant. SC #5 Carolina Titans will look start their spring off right with games against Talon Blue (SC) and the Sun Devils (SC) on Saturday. VA #10 LDA Bombers will make the trip down to Mount Pleasant this weekend and will face off against the Myrtle Beach Rays (SC) and Coul-Oak Diesel (NC) in their two pool play games.

10u

Although no ranked teams are in the 10u field, there are several exciting match ups worthy of note. Union County Crush - Walker (NC) are off to a 2-0 start this spring and will take on the Summerville Vapor (SC) and Chapin Talon (SC) in their pool play games. The Vapor and Talon will also face one another in pool play. The LDA Bombers (VA) are set to take on the Carolina Yard Dawgs (SC) and the Charleston Revolution (SC) in their two pool play games, while the Yard Dawgs and the Revolution will face one another in their other pool play games.

 

 

11u
D1

The 11u D1 division features the best field in the region thus far in the 11u age group. SC #1 East Coast Snipers - Clark/Hill are scheduled to go against SC #6 Carolina Titans and RipCity (VA) in their two pool play games. One point of note for RipCity: although they are not currently ranked in our VA 11u rankings, they most certainly will be. As far as we can tell, they did not play in the fall of 2018, but previously have been one of the best teams in Virginia in their age group. RipCity and the Titans will also go against one another in pool play on Saturday. SC #3 Charleston Revolution - Whittle will take on SC #4 Predators NE and NC #9 Canes Baseball NC - Naylor in their pool play games. Canes - Naylor will also take on Predators NE in pool play.

Open

5 teams from 4 states will face off in the 11u Open division this weekend in Mount Pleasant. Summerville Vapor Pink - Welch (SC) will take on the LowCountry Gators (SC) and the LDA Bombers (VA) in their pool play games, while the Tri State Grizzlies (WV) will go against the Gators and the Ditch Chickens (GA) in their pool play games. The LDA Bombers and Ditch Chickens will face off in the other pool play game in the 11u Open division.

12u

NC #11 Carolina Astros will start their spring 2019 season against the Charleston Militia (SC) and the Charleston Revolution (SC) in their two pool play games in this 7-team division. Both the Militia and the Revolution will also take on the LDA Bombers (VA) in pool play this weekend. The Tri State Grizzlies (WV) will face off against Bulls Bay Bandits (SC) and Prodigy (GA) in their pool play games, and the Bandits and Prodigy will face off in the other pool play game in the 12u age group.
