AAU Recap Oxford/Clemmons 9/8-9/9/18

There were a handful of ranked teams from this past spring who were in action this past weekend in Clemmons and Oxford. Several, including 11u Dirtbags Black, 13u Dirtbags TBM, and 13u Five Star Carolina - Smith tested themselves against older competition. Here we recap the AAU games from this past weekend in Clemmons and Oxford.

Clemmons

Spartans - Mullins went 2-0 in pool play with a 12-1 win over the Rockies and a 6-5 win over Equip. The Davidson Crush also went 2-0 with a 9-5 win over the Carolina Spinners and a 9-3 win over Spartans - Nichols. In the bracket play play-in games, Spartans - Nichols topped the Rockies 2-1 and the Spinners notched an 11-7 win over Equip. In the semifinals, the Davidson Crush topped Spartans - Nichols 6-3 and Spartans - Mullins edged past the Spinners 7-6. In the finals, Spartans - Mullins out-slugged the Davidson Crush 19-14.

The Carolina Rockies went 2-0 in pool play with a 14-9 win over the Carolina Impact and a 22-1 win over the Junior Warriors. Luckies Bronze also went 2-0 with a 23-0 win over the Carolina Bulldogs and a 24-0 win over the Junior Warriors. In the bracket play play-in game, the Bulldogs topped the Junior Warriors 12-6. In the semifinals, the Rockies scored an 11-4 win over the Carolina Impact and Luckies Bronze blasted their way to a 17-1 win over the Bulldogs. In the finals, the Carolina Rockies completed an undefeated weekend with a 6-5 win over Luckies Bronze.

Rockies Black went 2-0 in pool play with a 14-1 win over the Carolina Strikers and a 5-1 win over the Carolina Red Sox - Haynes. The Pfafftown Raiders also went 2-0 scoring a 20-5 win over Rockies Gray and a 10-3 win over the Davidson Crush. In the bracket play play-in games, Davidson Crush notched a 12-4 win over the Carolina Strikers and Red Sox - Haynes rolled to a 13-4 win over Rockies Gray. In the semifinals, Rockies Black topped the Davidson Crush 4-1 and the Pfafftown Raiders scored a 13-6 win over Red Sox - Haynes. In the finals, Rockies Black completed an undefeated weekend with a 5-4 win over the Pfafftown Raiders.

Equip went 2-0 with a 20-4 win over NCBA and an 8-5 win over East Rowan. East Rowan also fell 19-9 against Surry North. Surry North finished 2-0 in pool play with an 11-0 win over Foothills Gators Grit in their other pool play game. In the bracket play, play-in games, Equip topped NCBA 9-0, and East Rowan scored a 15-3 win over Proehlific Power. In the semifinals, Equip topped Surry North 12-5 and East Rowan beat Rockies White 14-2. In the finals, Equip scored a 5-2 win over East Rowan to finish off a 5-0 weekend.

11u Dirtbags Black, who finished #8 in our 10u rankings last year, went 2-0 in pool play with an 8-5 win over KO Sports and an 18-3 win over 11u EW Havoc. Hutters also went 2-0 in pool play with a 16-0 win over KO Sports and an 18-0 win over 11u EW Havoc. In the bracket play play-in games, the Surry Bandits topped the Greensboro Prospects 8-4 and the Triad Thunder rolled to a 10-3 win over the Virginia Tribe. In the semifinals, the Surry Bandits scored a 7-6 win over Dirtbags Black and Hutters blanked the Triad Thunder 5-0. In the finals, Hutters complete and undefeated weekend with a 17-3 win over the Surry Bandits.

Five Star Carolina - Smith, who finished 11th in our final 12u rankings last year, played up in the 14u age group and went 2-2 for the weekend. They want 1-1 on Saturday with a 16-1 win over Rockies - Tuttle and a 5-2 loss against the Carolina Red Sox. On Sunday, they fell 5-1 against 4G3, but bounced back to score a 7-0 win over Rockies - Tuttle. Dirtbags TBM (previously Majestic Greensboro), who finished also 6th in our final 12u rankings last year, also played up this weekend in Clemmons. They went 1-1 on Saturday with a 15-4 win over Hutters and an 8-1 loss against Rockies - Mayhew. On Sunday, they again went 1-1 with a 7-2 loss against King Kryptonite but scored a 15-0 win over Hutters.

 

 

Oxford

Open

Smash Baseball, who finished #13 in our 2017-2018 9u rankings, went 2-0 on Saturday with a 9-8 win over the Carolina Thunder and a 10-0 win over the HYAA Hawks, who finished #20 in our final 9u rankings last year. The Hawks notched a 22-13 win over Dirtbags Camo in their other pool play game on Saturday. The NCDB Rivercats, who finished #17 in our 9u top 20 last year, went 2-0 on Saturday with an 11-6 win over the Carolina Thunder and a 10-1 win over Dirtbags Camo. In the bracket play play-in game, the Carolina Thunder topped Dirtbags Camo 12-3. In the semifinals, Smash Baseball again edged the HYAA Hawks, this time by the score of 6-5, and the Rivercats scored a 10-1 win over the Thunder. In the finals, the Rivercats finished off an undefeated weekend with a 13-8 win over Smash Baseball.

AA

Warriors Baseball went 2-0 in pool play with an 11-1 win over the Riptide and a 7-3 win over D1 Performance. The Carolina Flash also went 2-0 in pool play with a 17-14 win over the Virginia Squires and a 12-10 win over Extreme Baseball. In the Gold bracket play-in game, the North Wake Force topped the Durham Blues 8-6. In the semifinals, Warriors Baseball scored a 13-10 win over the Force and the Carolina Flash topped Diamond Life Athletics 16-14. In the finals, the Warriors scored a 16-8 win over the flash to finish 4-0 for the weekend.

Squires Navy went 2-0 in pool play with a 12-3 win over the North Wake Cardinals and a 12-3 win over American Dream. American Dream notched a 17-2 win over the Riptide in their other pool play game. In the semifinals on Sunday, American Dream notched a 9-7 win over the Riptide and Squires Navy scored a 15-8 win over the Cardinals. In the finals, the Squires completed an undefeated weekend with a 22-3 win over American Dream.

12u

3 teams were in action in the 12u division this past weekend in Oxford. The Rawlings Prospects went 2-0 with an 8-7 win over State Line Pride and a 2-1 win over Zone Select. Zone Select scored a 6-4 win over State Line Pride in their other game on Saturday.
