AAU Recap Clemmons/Oxford 9/29-9/30/18

Several ranked teams were in action this past weekend in Clemmons and Oxford at the AAU sites. 10u Dirtbags East and the 12u NCDB Rivercats continued hot starts to their fall seasons with undefeated runs to tournament titles this past weekend. Here we recap the AAU games from this past weekend.

Clemmons

In this one-day, 3-team event, the DC Bombers went 2-0 with a 15-5 win over Five Star Carolina and an 11-4 win over the Carolina Rockies. The Rockies topped Five Star Carolina 11-0 in their other game on Sunday.

The Carolina Rockies went 2-0 on Saturday with an 11-3 win over the Carolina Bulldogs and a 21-8 win over KO Sports. The Diamond Deacons went 1-1 in pool play with a 14-2 loss against the Carolina Bulldogs and a 12-8 win over KO Sports. In the semifinals on Sunday, the Diamond Deacons topped the Bulldogs 8-5 and the Rockies rolled to an 18-3 win over KO sports. In the finals, the Rockies again rolled to an 18-3 win over Diamond Deacons to finish 4-0 for the weekend.

GBC Prospects - Breedlove went 1-1 in pool play with an 11-7 win over the 10u Carolina Rockies Black 11-7 and a 4-0 loss against the Diamond Deacons. The Carolina Patriots also went 1-1 in pool play with an 11-5 win over KO sports and a 9-7 loss against Carolina Rockies White. Rockies White scored a 9-8 win over KO Sports in their other pool play game to finish 2-0 in pool play. In the bracket play play-in game, GBC Prospects - Breedlove topped KO Sports 12-0 and the Carolina Patriots notched a 6-5 win over Carolina Rockies Black. In the semifinals, the Patriots scored a 12-6 win over the Diamond Deacons and the GBC Prospects topped Rockies White 5-1. In the finals, the GBC Prospects scored an 11-9 win over the Carolina Patriots to take home the 11u title in Clemmons last weekend.

 

 

Oxford

The HYAA Hawks went 2-0 on Saturday with a 20-2 win over the North Wake Grays and a 22-11 win over Extreme Baseball. The Granville Rays also went 2-0 in pool play with a 19-7 win over the Grays and a 20-4 win over Carolina Thunder Blue. Fungo - Carmichael also went 2-0 on Saturday with a 15-11 win over Extreme Baseball and an 11-5 win over Carolina Thunder Blue. In the bracket play play-in games, Fungo - Carmichael scored a 13-7 win over the North Wake Grays and Extreme Baseball topped Carolina Thunder Blue 22-11. In the semifinals, the HYAA Hawks notched a 9-7 win over Fungo and the Granville Rays topped Extreme Baseball 14-0. In the finals, the HYAA Hawks finished off a 4-0 weekend with a 15-9 win over the Granville Rays.

Dirtbags East, who finished 8th in our final 9u rankings last year, went 2-0 in pool play with a 12-2 win over the OC Crushers and a 21-6 win over the Durham Blues. MVP Red also went 2-0 in pool play with a 13-4 win over the Orange County Storm Chasers and a 7-6 win over Rocky Mount Marshals - Ward. In the play-in games on Sunday, the Riptide topped the Durham Blues 10-9, MVP Red topped the Orange County Storm Chasers 10-0, and Rocky Mount Marshals - Ward scored a 17-7 win over the OC Crushers. In the semifinals, MVP Red topped Rocky Mount Marshals - Ward 6-5 and Dirtbags East scored an 8-0 win over the Riptide. In the finals, Dirtbags East finished off an undefeated weekend with a 6-1 win over MVP Red.

Luckies -Taylor scored two wins in pool play on Saturday with an 11-3 win over the North Wake Rough Riders and a 13-0 win over the Carolina Cubs. Fungo Elite also went 2-0 on Saturday with a 10-6 win over the VA Squires North and a 10-0 win over the Carolina Cubs. On Sunday in the play-in games, the Rough Riders scored an 8-7 win over the OC Crushers, Fungo Elite notched an 18-6 win over the Carolina Cubs, and the Riptide defeated the Squires North 14-4. In the semifinals, Fungo Elite notched an 14-4 win over the Riptide and Luckies - Taylor scored a 15-5 win over the Rough Riders. In the finals, Luckies - Taylor edged past Fungo Elite 5-4 to finish 4-0 for the weekend.

The NCDB Rivercats, who finished #15 in our 2017-2018 final 11u rankings, went 2-0 in pool play with a 13-3 win over the Alamance Angels and a 9-6 win over the OC Crushers. 11u West Raleigh Blue, who finished #4 in our final 10u rankings last year, went 2-0 in pool play as well with a 19-2 win over the Yellow Jackets and a 12-2 win over the Riptide. The Durham Blues went 2-0 on Saturday with a 12-7 win over the HYAA Hawks and a 10-4 win over the Carolina Outlaws. Dirtbags Camo went 2-0 also with a 17-1 win over the Riptide and an 11-4 win over the Yellow Jackets. In the quarterfinals on Sunday, NCDB scored a 10-0 win over the Outlaws, Dirtbags Camo scored an 8-2 win over the HYAA Hawks, the Durham Blues notched a 9-0 win over the OC Crushers, and 11u West Raleigh Blue topped the Alamance Angels 6-2. In the semifinals, the Rivercats knocked off Dirtbags Camo 13-6 and the Durham Blues rolled to a 13-0 win over 11u West Raleigh Blue. In the finals, NCDB finished off a 5-0 weekend with an 11-1 win over the Durham Blues.

D1 Performance went 2-0 on Saturday with a 17-0 win over the Riptide and a 6-3 win over Squires Baseball. The Squires topped the Durham Blues 13-9 in their other pool play game. The Blues scored a 13-5 win over Garner Express in their other pool play game. In the bracket play play-in game, the Riptide topped the Garner Express 12-5. In the semifinals, D1 Performance scored a 9-4 win over the Riptide and Squires Baseball notched a 13-9 win over the Durham Blues. In the finals, D1 Performance rolled to an 18-1 win over Squires Baseball to finish 4-0 for the weekend.
