AAU Recap Clemmons/Oxford 10/13-10/14/18

Several dozen teams were in action at the Clemmons and Oxford AAU sites this past weekend. Several ranked teams put up impressive weekends, and the 10u Pfafftown Raiders staked their claim to be considered among the top 10u teams in North Carolina. Here we recap this past weekend's AAU games from around the state.

 

Clemmons

The DC Bombers went 2-0 in pool play with a 17-10 win over the Carolina Rockies and a 19-4 win over Five Star Carolina. Five Star topped the Copperheads 14-2 and the Rockies scored an 11-1 win over the Copperheads in their other pool play games. In the semifinal games on Sunday, the DC Bombers scored a 14-1 win over the Copperheads and Five Star Carolina topped the Rockies 7-5. In the finals, the DC Bombers notched a 14-6 win over Five Star Carolina to finish the weekend 4-0.

#15 Carolina Rockies went 2-0 in pool play with a 15-4 win over the Summerfield Stars and a 16-5 win over the Junior Warriors. The Carolina Impact also went 2-0 in pool play with a 23-0 win over the Junior Warriors and a 10-8 win over Spartans - Allen. In the bracket play play-in games on Sunday, Spartans - Allen scored a 15-5 win over the Junior Warriors and the Summerfield Stars topped the HYAA Hawks 12-5. In the semifinals, Summerfield notched an 18-13 win over the Carolina Impact and the Rockies edged past Spartans - Allen 8-7. In the finals, the Carolina Rockies completed an undefeated weekend with another 1-run victory, this time scoring an 8-7 win over the Summerfield Stars.

The 10u Pfafftown Raiders scored a tournament title after going 4-0 including a win over #16 Five Star Carolina this past weekend in Clemmons.

#16 Five Star Carolina went 2-0 in pool play with a 7-1 win over the Carolina Crush and a 13-1 win over the Kernersville Cyclones. The Pfafftown Raiders went 2-0 in pool play on Saturday after a 10-4 win over the Davidson Crush and a 14-4 win over the Carolina Crush. In the #4/5 play-in game on Sunday, the Cyclones topped the Carolina Crush 12-2. In the semifinals, the Raiders edged past the Davidson Crush 5-4 and Five Star Carolina rolled to a 13-5 win over the Kernersville Cyclones. In the finals, the Pfafftown Raiders scored two runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to take an 8-7 walk-off win over Five Star Carolina.

NCBA went 2-0 in pool play with a 12-4 win over the Davidson Knights and a 5-4 win over Hutters. Hutters scored a 15-1 win over Big Cat Baseball in their other pool play game on Saturday. The Greensboro Nationals also went 2-0 on Saturday, scoring a 4-2 win over the Virginia Militia and a 3-0 win over SBA Canes - Baldwin. Spartans - Hutchens also went 2-0 in pool play with a 14-1 win over Big Cat Baseball and a 9-5 win over SBA Canes - Baldwin. In the quarterfinals on Sunday, Hutters scored an 11-1 win over the Virginia Militia, SBA Canes - Baldwin topped NCBA 12-2, Spartans - Hutchens blanked the Davidson Knights 8-0, and the Greensboro Nationals rolled to a 15-0 win over Big Cat Baseball. In the semifinals, Hutters topped the Nationals 6-1 and Spartans - Hutches scored an 8-3 win over SBA Canes - Baldwin. In the finals, Hutters rolled to a 13-2 win over Spartans - Hutchens to finish the weekend 4-1.

The NCDB Rivercats went 2-0 in this two-team event, scoring 17-5 and 13-3 wins over the East Coast Copperheads.

Rise LeBron (VA) went 2-0 on pool play with a 9-7 win over the Riptide and a 23-1 win over the North Wake Force. MVP Red also went 2-0 on Saturday, scoring an 8-7 win over the OC Crushers and a 14-5 win over the Raleigh Rogue. Diamond Life Athletics went 2-0 in their pool play games with a 15-1 win over the OC Crushers and a 17-3 win over the Raleigh Rogue. In the play-in games on Sunday, Rise LeBron topped the North Wake Force 16-1, MVP Red scored a 10-7 win over the Raleigh Rogue, and the Riptide notched a 17-2 win over the OC Crushers. In the semifinals, Rise LeBron topped MVP 5-4 and Diamond Life scored a 10-3 win over the Riptide. In the finals, Rise LeBron finished off a 5-0 weekend with a 13-5 win over Diamond Life Athletics.

11u #14 NCDB Rivercats went an impressive 5-0 this past weekend, outscoring opponents 48-18 across their 5 games.

#14 NCDB Rivercats went 2-0 in pool play with a 9-1 win over the Carolina Dodgers and a 5-1 win over the Summerfield Stars. GBC Prospects - Breedlove also went 2-0 in pool play with a 5-3 win over Fungo Elite and a 12-7 win over the HYAA Hawks. Squires North (VA) also went 2-0 in pool play with a 12-6 win over Fungo Elite and an 8-7 win over the HYAA Hawks. In the quarterfinals on Sunday, the Summerfield Stars scored a 19-7 win over Squires North, Fungo Elite notched a 14-4 win over GBC Prospects - Breedlove, the Carolina Cubs topped the Carolina Dodgers 15-6, and the Rivercats notched an 11-7 win over the HYAA Hawks. In the semifinals, Fungo Elite edged past the Summerfield Stars 7-6 and the Rivercats topped the Cubs 13-7. In the finals, the NCDB Rivercats completed a 5-0 weekend with a 10-2 win over Fungo Elite.

The Riptide went 2-0 on Saturday with an 11-8 win over the River City Redbirds (VA) and a 9-8 win over Squires Baseball. The Redbirds topped D1 Performance 8-5 in their other pool play game. In the semifinals on Sunday, the Redbirds scored a 15-5 win over Squires Baseball and the Riptide notched a 10-2 win over D1. In the finals, the Redbirds avenged their loss from Saturday with an 8-2 win over the Riptide to take home the 13u title in Oxford.
