It was an eventful day of baseball at the Clemmons and Oxford sites this weekend with multiple top 20 teams in action. Some head-to-head match ups amongst ranked teams as well as some upsets made for a exciting day. Here’s a brief recap.

#5 Carolina Vandals went 1-1 in pool play with a 7-5 loss to the Reidsville Luckies and a 20-12 win over the NC Young Guns. The Luckies also scored a 22-6 win over the Easton Foothills Gators, and reached the finals. #9 Spartans – Allen went 2-0 in pool play including a 21-0 win over Easton Foothills Gators and a 25-17 win over the Young Guns, which was enough to secure their spot in the finals. In the finals, the Luckies topped the Spartans 14-6 to finish 3-0 for the weekend.

#9 SW Colts scored dominant 15-0 and 22-0 wins over the Carolina Crush and the Hawks, respectively, and earned their way into the final. #15 Davidson County Rippers went 1-1 in pool play including a 9-4 loss to the Kernersville Cyclones and a 9-2 win over the Hawks. The Cyclones also topped the Carolina Crush 10-9 to earn their way into the final game. In the finals, the Colts continued their dominant run with a 13-2 win over the Cyclones.

#4 Rawlings Stars started their spring season with a 2-0 performance in pool play, including a 7-5 win over the DC Vipers and a 19-3 win over Cougars Baseball. The Luckies also went 2-o in pool play with a 13-0 win over the Easton Foothills Gators and a 26-2 win over the Colts and reached the finals. In the finals, the Stars finished off their undefeated Saturday with a 12-2 win over the Luckies.

Spartans – Keaton had a 2-0 run through pool play including an 18-4 win over Camel City Bombers and a 14-6 win over Cougars Baseball and earned a spot in the finals. Hutters also went 2-0 in pool play including a 12-11 win over Select Baseball Gold and a 15-7 win over the Rawlings Stars, which was enough to earn them a spot in the finals as well. In the finals, the Spartans were able to outlast Hutters 6-2 to finish 3-0 for the day.

The Virginia Squires went 2-0 in pool play with a 17-9 win over the FV Wildcats and a 13-3 win over Dirtbagz. The Wildcats also topped the Dirtbagz by the score of 14-1 to earn their spot in the finals and a rematch with the Squires. In the finals, the Wildcats were able to get their revenge with an 18-16 win over the Squires.

#8 Carolina Thunder rolled 13-3 over the Southside Panthers in their first pool play, but were upended by #20 Wendell Knights 12-8 in their second pool play game. The Knights also defeated the Panthers (11-3), which was enough to set up a rematch of the Thunder and Knights in the finals. In the finals, the Thunder were able to avenge their pool play loss with a 13-10 win over the Knights.

Dirtbags Elite went 2-0 in pool play including a 7-3 win over the Orange County Crushers and a 6-2 win over the Zebulon Cougars, which was enough to earn their spot in the finals. The Virginia Squires also went 2-0 in pool play with a 16-6 win over the Carolina Generals and a 15-3 win over the Diamond Strikers, a performance which earned them a spot in the finals as well. In the finals, Dirtbags Elite scored a 12-3 win over the Squires and finished 3-0 for the day.
