It was a good start to the AAU season. The Youngsville Heat were our only ranked team in action at the AAU sites, and they did not disappoint, going 4-0 and winning by a combined 41-11 en route to the 10u title in Oxford. Here’s a brief rundown of this weekend’s AAU games.

The Carolina Wood Ducks took home the title this weekend, going 3-0 in this 4-team round-robin tournament. They scored a 12-6 win over the Wayne County Ripperz, a 12-11 win over the Kinston Bomb Squad, and a 14-8 win over the Carteret County Patriots on their way to an undefeated weekend. The Bomb Squad went 2-1 with a 14-13 win over the Patriots and a 13-5 win over Wayne County, in addition to their loss to the Wood Ducks.

The NCDB Rivercats took care of business in their double-header against the Granville Rays, winning twice by scores of 20-5 and 14-2.

The North Wake Warriors and Carolina Flash split their double-header, with the Warriors taking game 1 12-0, but falling in game 2 by the score of 12-7.

#16 Youngsville Heat was only ranked team in the field in Oxford and they did not disappoint, going 2-0 on Saturday with a 4-2 win over the North Wake Elite and a 12-4 win over the Carolina Titans Blue. On Sunday, they topped the Riptide 13-2 to reach the final. In the final the Heat again beat the Elite, this time by the score of 12-3, to start their spring season 4-0 with an AAU tournament championship.

Both the Zebulon Cougars and the VA Squires went 3-1 this weekend in this 3-team, double round-robin tournament, but it was the Squires who won on Runs Against, giving up 8 to the Cougars 15. On Saturday, the Cougars topped the Squires 8-6 and scored a 22-0 win over the Carolina Generals. The Squires also topped the Generals by the score of 20-0, in addition to their loss to the Cougars. On Sunday, both the Cougars and the Squires blanked the Generals with scores of 15-0 and 10-0, respectively. However it was the Squires on top of the Cougars on Sunday, this time by the score of 9-0, which was enough to win the title on Runs Against.
