AAU ramps up their action this weekend with the start of the Oxford season. In addition, AAU has added a new tournament site (Kinston) for the spring, so we expect to see some new teams and match ups in these tournaments this season. Here’s a quick rundown of this weekend’s AAU action.
Kinston
10u
There’s just one age group going this weekend in Kinston (10u). There are 4 teams in the field (Carolina Wood Ducks, Carteret County Patriots, Kinston Bomb Squad, and Wayne County Ripperz), so they’ll play a 3-game round robin event on Sunday.
Oxford
8u
It’s just a two team field in the 8u age group, so the NCDB Rivercats will play a best-of-three series against the Granville Rays on Saturday.
9u
The 9u age group is also just a two team field. The Carolina Flash will play a double-header against the NW Warriors on Sunday.
10u
There are 6 teams in the 10u field in Oxford this weekend. They’ll be lead by #16 Youngsville Heat who will face the Carolina Titans Blue and North Wake Elite on Saturday. Although the Elite lost all 4 of their games this past weekend, they were very competitive against two top 10 teams (Dirtbags Platinum and Dirtbags East) across 3 games, so I’d expect them to have a bounce back weekend this weekend in Oxford.
11u
The 11u age group has a 3 team field this weekend in Oxford. The VA Squires, Zebulon Cougars, and Carolina Generals will face off in a double round robin format on Saturday and Sunday.
