The 13u age group was another very difficult age group to sort out at the top with as many as 4-5 teams making a reasonable case for the top spot. 6 teams from North Carolina ended up in Perfect Game's 13u national rankings or honorable mention list, which is a testament to just how strong this age group is in North Carolina. We chose Mission as our top team this past year because of their number of results against top competition and the consistency of their performance. They posted wins over teams ranked #2, 3, 4, 5 ,7, 8, and 9 in our North Carolina rankings, the only team with wins over that many teams in our top 10. Here we recap the 13u age group from 2019-2020.
- Mission Baseball Gold
We ended up settling on Mission Gold for our #1 spot, but not after some back and forth and indecision. Mission finished the year as an honorable mention awardee on Perfect Game's national 13u rankings, which we feel was a mistake on PG's part. Mission finished the year with a 38-10 overall record, including a record of 24-6 this spring/summer seasons. They scored wins over national #10 Louisiana Knights, #37 Ohio Spiders, #63 SBA Futures, #67 Canes Baseball NC - Simpson, #68 Twelve Baseball (TX), and #69 East Cobb Astros Navy (GA). In addition, Mission notched wins over NC #4 Five Star Carolina - Neyra, #5 Five Star Carolina - Champions, #7 Five Star Carolina - Queler (x2), #8 SBA Nationals, #9 Five Star Carolina WNC (x2), #12 SBA LKN 2025 Black, #14 Dirtbags Legends, #15 Kernersville Bulldogs, and #12 LBC Attack (x2). They also had 5 wins over 14u teams. Of their losses, 4 came against nationally ranked teams, 3 came against 14u competition, and 2 more came against teams in our North Carolina top 15. - Canes Baseball NC - Simpson
The Canes finished just behind Mission Baseball Gold in our estimation this year, however this was a tough decision. The Canes finished the year with an overall record of 42-6-1 (as best we can gather). This outstanding record included wins over #5 Five Star Carolina - Champions (x2), #8 SBA Nationals (x2), #14 Dirtbags Legends (x2), #20 Rock Solid Red, and #25 Team Ghost.
