Although this is not technically a North Carolina event, we thought we’d go ahead and give a special preview for our North Carolina teams representing in Atlanta this upcoming weekend. Some of the best teams in the state including the #1 team in 9u, 10u, and the 11u age groups as well as the #2 and #5 teams in the 12u age group will be in action in this tournament. We’re going to try and provide some rationale for our rankings each week. We can’t promise we’ll always have time to do this, but as people are interested in rankings like this, we want to maintain some level of transparency about how we think about these rankings and how we approach where to slot teams. We’ve also included other teams who we’ve considered. This is not an exhaustive list of all teams considered and is only meant to try and bring some notoriety to other teams who are doing a great job in the travel season but who might just fall outside our rankings. As always, if you see something you disagree with in our rankings or our rationale, let us know. We’re the first to admit we’re not the expert on every team at every age group and getting the coaches, players, and fans’ opinions on who the best teams you’ve seen or played is always helpful for us.
Despite the rain-shortened weekend across the state of North Carolina, there were still some excellent competition and some of the best teams in the state in action. It was an exciting weekend of USSSA baseball as a couple of #1’s were in action (9u Park Sharon Nationals and 11u SBA Canes – Ross). Both #1’s lived up to their ranking as were several other highly ranked teams. Check out the recap of this past weekend’s USSSA games.
