There will be several intriguing match ups this weekend across the state in AAU. Although many of the top teams will either be idle or participating in a Top Gun Fall Zone qualifier this weekend, the outcome of some of the AAU age groups could lead to some shake ups in next week’s rankings. Here’s the preview of this weekend’s action.
Our updated rankings are now out for each age group. This past weekend led to some movement in the rankings across many age groups. We also had several new teams make appearances in the rankings. Below we detail all the relevant results and changes.
Top Gun had the bulk of competition this weekend as teams participated in the Fall Zone Qualifiers prior to the upcoming Winter World Series, however a few of our top 20 teams in different age groups were in action elsewhere around the state. Here’s a brief rundown.
Not many of our top 20 were in action this weekend at the AAU tournaments, however there were some results of note that we’ve highlighted below.
One of the features we thought would be entertaining to have on this site was a ranking of teams across the various age groups in the state of North Carolina. This idea, however, has some inherent limitations which make it an exceedingly difficult task to do well. We’d like to be transparent about how we develop these rankings, and also open up the comments for suggestions on how we can do better. With that said, we want to reiterate that these rankings have absolutely no bearing on your team, and they are merely meant to be fun and informative.
Rain limited play for many teams around the state, but for the vast majority of teams, some baseball was able to be played. He’ll we will review some of the highlights from the weekend in Top Gun.
Although many of the top teams will be playing elsewhere or off this weekend, the AAU schedule this weekend. has a chance to bring some new teams into the mix for consideration of inclusion in our rankings. Games will be played in both Clemmons and Oxford this weekend.
This is a big weekend for Top Gun as the Zone Qualifiers for the Winter World Series are in full swing. Top Gun has 10 different sites going this weekend. Please note, at the time of writing, the schedule for the Charlotte Site has not yet been published.
As most of you already know, beginning January 1st, 2018 several national organizations, in conjunction with USA Baseball, will roll out their new bat standard. This new standard has led to much confusion and consternation amongst coaches and parents regarding which bats will be eligible for play in which organization beginning in the Spring 2018 season. Here we’ll review the old and new bat standard and discuss how these standards will affect travel baseball in the state of North Carolina
